KOMO Radio: No Editors in the PM?

I was listening to Art Sanders at 7:30 PM tonight (Wed) and his top story was about the flight with the flaming engine at Sea-Tac. Then he read a short reader about Obama's presser. THEN he had a wrap about the flight with the flaming engine at Sea-Tac! The same story within about 2 minutes. THEN he had the same story AGAIN with a very weak "eye witness" sound bite in the copy.

Do they not have desk editors working after 7 PM or do the anchors have to create their own lineups on the fly?

Set to PUREE.....

I'm suspecting cutbacks happened at Fisher too.......

Well instead of an uneducated guess of "there's cutbacks at Fisher" here's a more plausible explanation:

Anchors add some pieces (like features and other items) to the rundowns but generally editors fill the main news sections. KOMO usually has at least one editor after 7PM but likely they're folks with little or no experience at the news desk. That's probably why duplicate stories were inserted in the rundown.

What's surprising is that Sanders aired both the wrap and the soundbite story back to back - the anchors are the "last line of defense" for what goes on air and that should have been caught.

Unfortunately, at times this station's non-drive time anchors do not sound as "engaged" as the prime anchors. Let's hope they caught it before the hour was "recycled" into a later hour with some rewrites and late additions, as most other all newsers do late night/overnight.
