KOMO-TV's Bryan Johnson retires

What a career! I started hanging around at KAPA in Raymond not long after Bryan Johnson jumped ship to Seattle. When he started at KELA, KAPA was owned by the same family, and had been launched on 1340 to compromise nearby KXRO. By the time I actually had my parttime high school job, Bryan was already on KOMO.

Times have changed. Now, years later, KOMO is operating an FM station that I owned for a while.

I remember my grandmother's big white AM kitchen radio with Bryan Johnson reporting....and later those mornings....Paul Harvey.

I don't remember listening to KOMO (tv and radio) without Bryan Johnson! What an outstanding career in the Seattle area! Best wishes to Bryan in his retirement years!

Well, that does it then. The last Puget Sound voice from the days of your parents kitchen radio is going fishing. I always liked his TV street reporting. There could be a police gun battle, a house fire and a fistfight going on right behind him and Bryan would just stand there giving a complete, informative and thorough report, done in his not-quite droning style..all professional.
