Well....
The second phase of Arb Spring book was released and so far KONN has gone from a .9 to a 1.0. By my calculations, and I am no rocket scientist, that's only 1/10 of a share higher. I don't think there is anything wrong with being an idealist. However; bad planning, programming, and management will sink a station faster than the Lusitania. When you've got people like Tim Maranville, Jerry Dixon, Davin, "Blake...gulp...Powers" (God, please don't let the bile come up), and all other assorted rejects of the radio industry, you have a BIG problem. Also, take a look at the moniker: "The beat of Denver". WTF does that mean? By industry standards, that would indicate they are an urban station. By my deduction, having Kelly Clarkson, 3 Doors Down, and Chris Daughtry in your playlist does not make you an urban station. Not to mention the totally moronic antics of Davin at a concert that KQKS was presenting (yes, I was one of the 5 people that watched the video on YouTube). He instantly gave away his insecurity and frustration with himself and the station he was representing. You could see it in his face and hear it in his voice about how angry he was. He acted totally unprofessional and made an ass of himself in the process. Also he pissed off not only people at KQKS but also the entire market and the LEGITIMATE stations that operate in it. The problem is that the people in that building (both at Martini and One) know that their days are numbered and when they get thrown on the street they will not set foot in another radio station again. I suppose that's why they can't get anywhere. I would post the link to the video on YouTube where Davin was acting like a moron, but it has since been taken down. I do recall, however, that in the video he said 'I am going to let KS 107.5 know what it's like to have a little competition' Folks, I think the opportune word here IS little.
