KONO distorted audio

For the last couple of days, 860 KONO has been broadcasting distorted audio. Also, the broadcast is echoing faintly.

In addition the station has stayed on daytime power/pattern the last couple of nights. I wonder what’s going on there.

It's really awful and so sad that radio people don't even listen to their own stations, or care. KONO went for a year like this, with massive distortion. Then they spent a few months with truly HiFi AM sound, it was great. Now they are back to this insane distortion again - most of the time. Sometimes they revert to 20% modulation for awhile

Then again, during the day, why are they allowed to rebroadcast iHeart's 760 on 960? That seems to be illegal. I'm told it's the difference between 860 and 760 being recombined with 860 at their transmitter and generating a new signal on 960. It's faint but you can hear it almost up to New Braunfels. Then there is the faint sound of KONO behind KBIB 1000. That can't be legal either.

Sometimes I wish the FCC was still around. I guess AM really is now dying.

I'm listening to Big 86 this morning at 10am. Listening on a Sangean am-fm radio. The signal sounds great! Listening in wurzbach/vance jackson area
