KONO FM Once Again Rates #1 in 6+ Demo

While I don't have access to the demo breakdown, I can't imagine that KONO FM doesn't lead in those also in that they have a 2.5 margin over second place. With a playlist that only encompasses the 70's & 80's I don't know how they continue to prosper at such a high level...

They prosper because people like me grew up in the 80's, enjoy that music and are still in a demographic advertisers want to reach!

The market is over 50% Hispanic and KONO overindexes against Hispanics. Assimilated Hispanics, particularly women, tend to over-index on CHR usage and did so considerably in the KTSA and KTFM eras. Those are a huge percentage of the current KONO listeners.

This is not Jack Roth's "whites only" KONO.

That makes sense in that CHR stations rank well down on the list. I was looking at a very limited play list compared to CHR or country. Country incidentally ranks #3 & #4 in San Antonio...

CHR stations are fragmented, classic hits is not.

KONO is staying true to the "classic" hits (i.e. 25 years +) by adding 1991's Bryan Adams "Everything I Do, I Do it For you" tune, which turned 25 this year. If this is true, some other format-appropriate choices from then might include Paula Abdul "Rush Rush", Extreme "More Than Words", Amy Grant "Baby Baby" & Mariah "Someday". Cashing in on F 18+!!

I heard Sugar, Sugar by The Archies a couple of times and thought that they are playing some 60's songs, which I like. When I looked it up in my music library I found that it was actually released in 1970. They do have a lot of variety...
