KONO modifying format?

Yesterday, I heard an Alisha (sp?) Keyes song on KONO. I think remember that song was popular during the late 90s or early 2000s? It seemed a bit strange for an 'oldies' station to being playing something so relatively current, afterall, that song has only been on the air for 10 years? I also heard some other 'adult' or mellow 80s music (non GoGos-non Metallica) as well as the usual stuff from the mid 70s. But it seems that most of the 60s music has vanished. Is KONO moving their format timeline a little more hastily now that KAHL/KMFR has altered theirs? Just as on another topic post, I remember back in the late 90s, KONO had quite a bit of 50s doo-wop Happy Days music, as well as the beach blanket bimbo selections from the pre-Beatles early 60s. Whats next, Ashley Simpsom?

I think the folks at Cox are much too smart to react to KAHL. That's not being disrespectful to KAHL, merely a nod to KONO which is an extremely well programmed GIANT. It wouldn't make sense for KONO to react to a tertiary signal(s) with negligible awareness. Personally, and I suspect they have research to back this up, select 80's and 90's is probably a better fit and mixes better with the 70's core library they are now using.
 
I was beginning to wonder the same thing. I heard Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" a week or so ago.

If you heard "If I Were Your Woman" that song was originally sung by Gladis Night & The Pips from 1970. I highly doubt that KONO is going to add anything from the 90s or 00s. They might start adding more 80s but they sound like they're still holding onto post-Beatles 60s music.

KONO 101.1 did not and does not play Alicia Keys...you were listening to KQXT 101.9...
 
Alamo boy should know!!! And it's proof that somebody, even when listening to KQXT, THINKS that they are listening to KONO. That's strong branding -
 
It could have been that frustrated single parent station 101.9 and not 101.1, due to the time of day and fuzziness of the frequency readout. But sometimes you really can't tell the difference between the two since their auto-server often spits out the same song at the same time.
