Kono

Why don't some of these radio companies like Univision, Alpha and others go up against KONO. KONO is OK but could be beat with good talent, a SA Sound musically and I don't mean urban oldies. But a good mix of 70/80s 50% R&B, a few 60s pop songs and great fun promotions.

Even a few freestyle songs. EX: Stevie B/Spring love

Example hour:

Chicago, Turtles, Frankie Valli, Tavares, Grand Funk, Beatles, Paul Revere, EWF, Madonna, Prince, Wham, Bread, Barry Manilow, Journey, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Stylistics, America, etc

I'm sorry but 95.1 is really not old school oldies Its hip hop/urban

Also a category for Hispanic appeal songs. Maybe one or two and hour. War, Sir Douglas Quintet, El Chicano, Santa Esmeralda, Etc

Bring in some popular DJs from the 70s/80s Natural sounding that has mastered Brevity.

Charlie Brown, Joe Nasty, Catfish, Sonny Rio, Sonny Melinderes, Etc

KONO is sitting pretty with a 7.0 share! Even if a good competitor never beat KONO, it would still pull a 5 if done right.

Your thoughts

Well, when did KONO go back to playing classic hits? I was just there and 860 was running CBS Sports.

Oh wait, you mean KONO-FM... of course. Silly me....

So you want someone to compete with KONO 101? It's been attempted before and probably will be again, but the fact is KONO 101 is the heritage station in town and anyone attempting it will have a long road ahead of them with very little to look forward to moving ahead.

PD: If they stick with it for a long time, play the right music with local personalities they CAN make a dent. I DO agree with you KONO-FM is the heritage station and they win almost through default. It would be a tough mission but consistency and superb programming could be a big thorn in KONO's butt.

just my 2cents
