Konta & Misty On The Way Out?

Spoke to a couple inside sources that Konta and Misty Jordan might be on the way out as morning show hosts. One person I can not name out of D.C./Baltimore area which is interesting because Radio 1 HQ is there. They are looking at making some major changes with the new PD in place. Honestly not sure who would take over the morning show or if they would bring in Russ Parr? It will be interesting on what happens. Already seeing changes with the musice line-up and afternoon move arounds.

Considering that R1 has Russ syndicated in most, if not all the rest of their markets, except Columbus, this isn't surprising news. The Columbus morning show, with Paul was always highly rated, and fought for in the past, but with a new (recent) GM, and new PD, I can see the change happening.

Too bad, I would rather hear the local, vs Russ Parr, Personally, I never liked the "ghetto-ness" of his show.

I'd like to see 107.5 upgrade their signal. Right now their signal is equivalent to 3000 watts/100 meters(328 feet). I'd like to see it upgraded to the equivalent of 6000 watts/100 meters(328 feet). Not sure how much they'd have to raise their antenna height to achieve it, but I don't think the fcc would object. They let 98.9 be a class A, and 99.1 gives them more interference than any station outside of Columbus would give to 107.5. Sometimes their signal can be kinda crappy inside parts of the city, and I think this would remedy that. I know this has absolutely nothing to do with the subject, but I really didn't wanna start up a whole new thread on it.

There is a 107.3 in Crooksville and there is a 107.7 in Loudonville, Nelsonville and Dayton. All those stations are within 80 miles from here so I think there will be issues about the upgrade. 98.9 got denied upgrade due to 98.7 in Mansfield and McArthur and 99.1 in Dayton.

Hearing positive feed back in regards to the musice being played on Power. The PD seems to be working hard attracting new and old listeners. I will be honest, I am liking it better than before. :D

I agree about them doing something with their signal. It can be weak in some areas. I work downtown in the building that supports their signal and it is crappy coming in on a decent radio in my office.

The only thing that is repetitive is the recurrent and gold product. Why don't they bring in Rickey Smiley? His show sounds much better than Russ Parr.

Amen to a signal upgrade, I travel a lot and all of all the Columbus FM's it seems IMO to have the worse range (to the south 107.5 in Portsmouth chews it up past Circleville), I used to work in the Newark area and there are some places there it seems almost impossible to get. I agree the new PD is doing a good job as I find myself listening to it more so than I have in years but if any1 has any direct link to him pass along that Mix Shows on Fri and Sat nights would be awesome :)

No, I'm saying I want 107.5 to be upgraded to the coverage of 98.9 and 105.7. Both 98.9 and 105.7 are the equivalent of a 6000 watt/328 foot Class A station. 107.5 is set at the equivalent of a 3000 watt/328 foot Class A station. I'd like for them to upgrade their signal so they'd have the same coverage 98.9 has. Also, 98.9 didn't get denied an upgrade. They used to be 500 watts, and upgraded to a full Class A signal, and they have 99.1 sitting 65 miles away on a 1000 foot stick at 50,000 watts. Plus the coverage area of the stations you mentioned wouldn't be affected at all. The only thing I could see being a problem would be 107.9 and 107.1 complaining. It doesn't really matter anyway cause it won't happen, but it'd be nice. Actually what I'd really like to see is 107.5 upgrade to half a million watts with an 8000 foot antenna lol joking.

This is not really correct-

98.8 was originally licensed as a 3000 Watt Class A signal at 328 Feet on the WBNS tower. They had serious
signal issues due to the leg mounted antenna they used on the wide WBNS tower. They had serious nulls on the east side of town.
In 1993 they applied to move to the FM master system at the top of the tower. The ERP was something like 600 watts
at 750 feet. This proved to be a case of not enough power into the antenna as the signal was very thin and prone to
atmospheric interference.

Sometime in the late 90's- I think when Jacor owned the signal, they applied for a CP to move to a panel antenna at 500
feet on the tower. They did upgrade to the equiv of 6000 watts but I believe they had to directionalize the antenna slightly
to protect WHKO 99.1 in Dayton.

The difference between a well engineered 3KW and a 6KW is really minor. On a coverage map, it's about another mile of contour.

107.5 on the other hand, has similar issues broadcasting from downtown, they have taller buildings in their antenna shadow
and a pole mounted antenna hanging from a penthouse. More power from their current antenna would only increase the multipath they already have. A move to channel 6 or 10's tower at about 500 ft would be just about the ideal situation.

As for a jump to 6KW- in addition to the first adjacents at 107.3 and 107.7 you would also need to look at the second adjacents at 107.9 and 107.1. I am not sure that either one of these has sufficient separation to 107.5 to allow 6KW. The second adjacent requirement for Class A to Class A is 19 miles.
