KOOL 105.3 Signs On

Sometimes you just happen to be listening at that time.
KOOL 105.3 officially returned to their oldies format at 7pm tonight (Thursday, March 22nd) with Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll".
Now let's see if their playlist will expand to try and get their listeners lost to WTIX-FM.
I would suggest TIX-FM back off on some of their commercials. I have listened for years because of the deeper playlist as well as local flavor, but they have made extra money over the past 5 months and I know when and for how long to surf.
For those of you who have trouble with TIX's signal, I don't know why. I only lose it north of I-12.
Also, I don't have any problems with the somewhat new lineup as far as Bob Walker is concerned, but T-Ben is JUST NOT FUNNY, and it is not just my opinion. Costello can save that money. And I do miss Bobby Reno & JD the DJ.

I heard them sign on at 7pm, too. It was in fact, Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock And Roll" that relaunched the station on the new frequency.

Bob Walker is a welcome voice back on TIX. IMO, so is T-Ben. I'm not just saying that 'cause he's a friend of the family. His jokes are funnier if you could actually see the faces he makes and his expressions while he does them.

Underwhelming

Listening to the KOOL stream online here in Houston, I'm not impressed. Cookie cutter classic rock 70's and 80's tinged music with a sprinkle of 60's titles. If it's the Greatest Hits of All Time, I suppose time began in the late 60's. And, of course, again the same 200 titles more than likely will be played over and over, some played 2-3 times a day. This format has been tried before with mediocre to poor results. Instead of competing music with WRNO, WLMG and WBYU, hey would have fared much better going contemporary and filling a void.

Just IMHO.

Noticed the same thing this morning -- seems like they shifted the time frame forward a little in the 7 months off the air.

Same candy just a different wrapper. Typical corporate spin. Make a big deal about the same product and shove it down the listeners throats. I'm guessing Andy James and Andy Holt are one in the same, as in the All Access article. Guess it means voice tracking in midays. Veteran air staff? Zzzzzzzzzzz

KOOL really sucks now with their "River" tried and failed format. Same old same old. You'd think their voice track guy could at least say "cool" and not COO-well". Wait till they bring back those two woefully out-of-touch 65 year old dinosaurs in the morning to attract a young audience, plus the whiney afternooner. Pitiful.

Best odds? Extinct by 12/31/06.
