Hartford/New Haven Kool 96.1 now carrying ABC News

Marc B- If you’re a local to Kool 96.1/ WNTY, have you noticed that 990 has been staying on past its bedtime lately? With a nice 2.5kw DA-D to the north and west, they’re not flipping their pattern and power at sunset, or at all. The night pattern shape is essentially a mirror image of the day pattern, with 0.08kw, protecting WDCX Rochester and others. This week they’ve been dominant at night in Poughkeepsie.

In January 2026 I suffered a medical emergency and have been in the hospital/recovery center ever since, so I have no access to a radio. I'm doing my listening online.

And prior to.my medical emergency in January any AM listening I've been doing in the car is WLIB 1190 AM out of NYC. They simulcast WEPN-FM aka La Exitosa 98.7 - a station that plays music from the past 45 years in both English and Spanish. There Playlist is wild. I listen online and have heard things I haven't heard in years.

Even if I had a radio, how would I know that they're not switching to 80 watts at night? What I do know is for a while in late 2025, WNTY had been switching to 80 watts at SUNRISE. The station would be crystal clear all night and tgen at SUNRISE staticy and weak.
