KOOL All-Christmas

Anyone listening to KOOL-FM's Christmas music channel? A great music mix, and many rarities - and of course, the tried-and-true classics every two or three hours, but if you can get past that, a great presentation. Interestingly, KOOL's Christmas channel is on KMLE's HD2 channel, but it streams online:

Apparently you weren't in Phoenix last November and December
and had to put up with it on the main OTA (94.5) frequency.

Seems not that many locals wanted to put up with it either,
based on the fall book result (#16, 25-54). PD Kris has (so
far, knock on wood) learned his lesson.

For classic hits listeners, it was not a Wonderful Christmastime. ::)

Indeed, I'm not even on the West Coast, though I read the previous thread about KOOL getting into the Christmas spirit, but not a word about their all-Christmas channel on KMLE's HD2 channel...

And while I'm on the subject: Yes, I know it's an automated jukebox and has its flaws, but I would recommend to whoever is in charge to not play a liner that goes, "KOOL-FM, where you hear the fun of the holidays," then follow it up with the downtempo Eagles song "Please Come Home For Christmas."

That is all...

It's now a Kristmas Home for the Holidays Weekend on 94.5 KOOL-FM.
BTW, that's on the main OTA FM frequency.

Thank you so much, PD Kris. ::)

While they may return to classic hits on Monday (as inferred by this
weekend's theme), it's possible there will be a flip back to Kristmas
music next Friday--for the duration.

Not sure what this means for the syndicated evening show (the host
would like me to mention his name) or any weekend specialty shows.

This comes one day into the current PPM "month" (Dec. 10-Jan. 6).

Smart move. At least 75% of KOOL's target audience will be doing Xmas shopping, tree decorating, hanging lights, writing snail mail cards and getting smashed. Couple that with the fact so many of their artists have recorded holiday songs, its a no brainer. And while Nurse Jeff and I'll be donning our gay apparel, we're grateful that PD Kris waited until 12/11 to go all Ho-Ho-Ho. That almost makes up for last year's launch on 10/31!

But remember the Christmas music juggernaut--KESZ 99.9.

Stick a fork in normal radio listening until the second week of January. It's "take your vacation time now" at most Valley radio stations. And thanks to PPM, KEZ won't get a free ratings ride for three consecutive months after the Ho-Ho-Ho music comes to a grinding halt.
