Kool Breakfast bunch

Anyone remember.....Danny Davis....Skippy....Beth Fox....John Gibson? The Breakfast Bunch was one of the most popular/highly rated morning shows on Kool 94 point 5. Bill Gardner actually "lucked out". He came in on the heels of a guy who thought he was "something", but actually had an ego that far surpassed any talent. Remember Brian Casey? Didn't think so....He took the morning show from the top 5 to about 20th in the market.....guy was a real idiot.....
Anyway....The Breakfast Bunch was a guiding force in the Phoenix radio market..... Any comments/suggestions on a possible reunion? We are talking....

I'd forgotten that before Gardner, it was a "zoo" type show with 4 players. I recall the ratings were quite beefy. Never met Beth or Skippy, but Danny Davis and John Gibson are two of the nicest guys in the radio stewpot.

Clear Channel would be foolish to let Davis go. Wrap him up in brown paper and tie him with string, as the only local talent on the legendary KOY, he is the sound of the station. Per pound, he's worth every penny they're paying him, and then some.

I'd enjoy hearing the former KOOL morning zoo, on an HD, retro country hits format. Pop country crossovers from the past 4 decades.

If I'm not mistaken, Skippy (Tony McGraw) and Beth Fox are both working weekends in the 840 building.

It would be nice if the powers-that-be in that building would recognize (and utilize) those talents.

Beth was always a pretty cool person to work with. Anybody remember Mike Farrell? What about BJ Hunter? How were their numbers?

Wow. Mike Farrell. He was a great talent. He may still be running his station up in Payson; at least I hope so. He was on the originial KOY for many years, and I would suspect he had good numbers no matter where he was on the dial.

BJ Hunter is another name from the past. I can't recall just how popular he was because he wasn't here as long as Farrell, but he did a pretty good show.

Beth Fox is pulling some weekends at KMLE Country 108. Mike Farrell owns KMOG-1320 in Payson last time I looked. Other veteran survivors who have been in the market for years include, Jim West weekends on KMLE Country, Russ Knight evenings on KNIX and Mike Patrick pulling weekends on KOOL-FM.

Whatever happened to Alan Chilcoat on the original KOY? We know that Heywood is selling real estate, we lost H.G. Listiak in 2004. Joe Adams is still in the market but what about Chilcoat and other players on "55-Phoenix- K O Y" !!!

Heck, I've been also trying (in vain) to track down other Phoenix radio vets from the last 20 years including "Layback" Lennie Roberts from KNIX in the 80's ???

By 'losing' H.G. Listiak do you mean he died? If so, what a shock!

Our two sons played Little League together back in the 80's. He didn't look that old (although there may have been more miles on the bus than met the eye). He was doing traffic for a CW station (KMLE?) at that time.

Sadly yes the master of "illiteration" H.G. Listiak passed away in April of 2004. At the time he was doing traffic at KMLE COUNTRY 108. He was a great guy, a real character and a true radio pro! I enjoyed working with him at KMLE for many years.

H.G. had a storied radio career. He flew jets off aircraft carriers in the Navy during Vietnam, spent some time in San Diego radio but he really made a name for himself for many years at KOY, Phoenix. His newscasts were legendary. A memorial remembrance was held at Steele Indian School park back in 2004. Lots of Phoenix radio people knew and enjoyed working with him. He left us all too soon.
