KOOL-FM MoViN

I heard them today after Camelback Jack went off saying that they were going to MoViN. Doesn't CBS own all of that? Are they switching? Holy crap, they played I Think I can Dance by Lee O'Sayer! I haven't heard that in a long time. They must be stonting to blow away all of thier listeners to make way for the format whell spin. This is awesome. But nobody will like it. My friend Bill says they are stupid to change. I called over there and there is only one guy answering the telephone, and he's flaky.

Thank You

Howard Halland

KOOL-FM is moving their offices/studios from 4745 N. 7th St.
to the "other" CBS local locale at 840 N. Central Ave.--the
old KOY Building.

I believe KMLE is also at 840 N. and I recall hearing something
recently about KZON moving to 7th St., so it must be a swap
of stations between corporate sites.

I hope 840 N. is barbed wire-fenced and gated--that's not
the nicest area in central PHX.

No jocks this (Friday) evening apparently--but a lot of never-
and seldom-played oldies, not just 2 or 3 an hour, on their
"movin' out and look at these lost oldies we found weekend."

Surprised they didn't do a Motown weekend. Wait a minute,
oldies station, Motown weekend--isn't that redundant? ;)

As oldiesfan6479 mentioned...they are in the process of MOVING their studios downtown. My understanding is that because both KMLE and KOOL go after the 25-54 demo, they want to have their sales teams in the same building. KZON, on the other hand, is an 18-34-targetted station, so perhaps it makes more sense to have it housed at 4745 North 7th Street, Suite 210. And it's probably not just coincidence that KKFR (which KZON hopes to dethrone) has its studios at 4745 North 7th Street, Suite 410.

Probably coincidentally, KMVA (Movin' 97.5) is right next door to the current KOOL/future KZON studios: 4747 N. 7th Street, Suite 424.

Howard, I mean no disrespect whatsoever by saying this, but I think you have a tendency to jump to conclusions when it comes to things you've seen or heard about/on KOOL :) Remember the message linked below?

Disclaimer...as I write this:
The PHX board topics page shows the last post in this thread
being from JD (Clover, not Wafflesworth) at 4:02:10pm, but
it won't come up in the replies, so I'm not sure if it's really
here and if it covered what I am posting...

We here on the PHX radio board should feel honored, knowing
for sure now that KOOL-FM PD Kris reads our snide comments. ;)

One of the Nameless Faceless Voice Guy drops airing during the
"Movin'/Lost Oldies Weekend" on KOOL mentions (paraphrasing)
"the geeks over on the Radio-Info board" and how they (we)
might interpret the on-air movin' references.

Heard this at 2:14pm today, and it'll no doubt air again.

No, I don't have a diary--sorry Kris ;D--but I've been listening for
a good part of the midday and afternoon.

I'm so glad 'justthenumbers' said that. As I was reading the post, I agreed wholeheartedly, but didn't remember the submitter of the article you referenced. I did know what the link would say before I even clicked it. What bothers me about that earlier post is that it was stated as fact in the first person. I've seen people put something out there because they wanted it to be true (that happens all the time), but I remember thinking that if 1580 didn't flip, that HHalland should be ashamed to put such a blatant lie out there.

Anyway, I remember thinking that a 1580 flip would be interesting, and thought it might be true - turns out it was just a well told lie.
