Yes, I hope some of you can tune-in to witness my very first time DJing, EVER!

Very nice job KLL. Always wondered what you sounded like. Your show joins my small but growing aircheck library.

See if you can steal some of Liz's 'sultry' voice and you'll have it made!!! ;D

BTW, when is Liz's next vacation so we can hear you again? (just wondering Liz.....) ;)

Anybody have an mp3 of the show they could fling my way?? :)

Scott (and anybody else who might have missed the live broadcast),

I've uploaded the file here: www.sendspace.com/file/qwot9t

If you have a slow connection or have problems downloading it yell and I'll mail off the CD.

Excellent job, Lauren! Anybody who plays (or even has heard of if you're younger than 50) Bob Kuban and the In-Men is OK in my book. ;D

Now that's a song that always sounded better on AM than FM (or streaming audio for that matter) because of the distortion. Nurse Jeff and I could probably start a thread about songs that just don't sound as good on FM as they did on Awful Music modulation. A tip of the fez from the Buckeye Boyz to KLL for her more than 15 minutes in fame's spotlight!

Radio Free Phoenix invites you to join our favorite Radio-Info poster, KOOL Listener Lauren, aka Lauren Polanski, this weekend on Radio Freedom, the guest DJ Show.

Lauren will entertain you with her 15 favorite songs this Saturday at 5pm and again, Sunday, at 3pm at RadioFreePhoenix.com

For pictures of Lauren at the RadioFreePhoenix company picnic with the RFP gang (including Jerry Riopelle and Sweet Naomi:), and for other updates including specialty shows and concerts, see you on Facebook!

Any chance you can post a podcast/aircheck for those of us who missed KLL's show?

I second that request. ;D

Thanks a million, lt! I couldn't get the broadcast, for some reason it wouldn't connect. Can't wait to get home and listen!

I've listened to the show four times now--Saturday air, Sunday air,
the mp3 archive twice (thanks, Senor Tuna!), and it sounds better
with each listen. Lauren's talk breaks, the songs, and the flow of
the music. (Well, except maybe Sam The Sham. ;D)

Some "oh wow" stuff indeed. 1966 through 1980, plus a 2001-er.
And three from 1971...maybe Lauren should have dragged out the
TM Phase II package with the "shotgun" jingle. ;)

Nothing was a "stiff" yet none of the usual overplayed suspects
either. Even the several lower-charting songs I would consider
to be "turntable hits." (Has that term now been updated in the
industry to a more contemporary "hard drive hits"?)

In line with what others have said--kudos to KLL. :)

WOW..really great music selection. I copied the stream link and entered it into our WiFi radio..plugged it into the old Bose Wave..and with the high bitrate it sounded GREAT!

Lauren..you have the chops! Now..if ya need some liners......

Congrats!

KLL,

Ok, so I finally carved out some time and am listening to your show on my iPhone. I think landtuna nailed it: just steal some of Liz B's sultry voice and you have quite a career ahead of you.

Nice music selection, btw. ;)

How sweet to see the softer side of the Radio-Info Board! :)

It's been heartwarming to see all the positive thoughts and encouragement for Lauren. She certainly deserves it! Her passion for radio, and Phoenix radio history, gives one hope for the future.

Some PD would be wise to give this smart young lady a start in the biz. I know Lauren, a full time ASU student, would love a part time job in promotions or programming.

If you haven't already, check out her website: www.PhoenixAirChecks.com

Again, it's been nice to read such kindness. Happy weekend!

Liz,

And thanks to you, a true mentor, who Lauren dearly and deeply respects for what you've done in the industry and what you do as an inspiration for KLL, as well.

Kudos to you for being that tried and true word ... "Friend." She can't thank you enough.

You have it right. Someone this summer will put her in programming and/or promotions if smart. Give her a week of aircheck consulting, construct critiques and she'll be "solid gold."

We use that fave radio word "passion" a lot ... but Lauren "gets it" and has plenty to share, thanks to dedicated professionals and friends like you who have taken time.

There is hope for radio. Thanks for all you do, Liz. Continued best wishes to you and RFP from friends in California.

Lauren, I had the pleasure of listening to your show this morning-great job! Loved, the show and your music selection, and I LIKE your voice! It's intelligent, professional and REAL! A breath of fresh air, your enthusiasm comes across to the listener.

I'd like to hear Lauren, Right now we got our hands full here.. Hopefully in a week or so..

Just treading water. :)

I'll jump in as well, and say I was very impressed! I must be honest and say that I wasn't expecting too much, but boy was I wrong! Lauren definately sounded better than I did the first time I cracked a mic... probably true for most of us on here!

Keep on truckin', Lauren! Soon you'll be making Phoenix Radio history!

ICF,
Too late Lauren already has.
WHAT A FEELING!!!!

Lauren,
It was great to meet you at the RFP picnic, and congrats on a fine show, indeed! I finally had an opportunity to listen to the show this morning, and what a great selection of tuneage (ok, I know that really isn't a word, but...).
Keep on truckin'! ;D

I'm astounded by this entire thread. Either you guys are: a.) an easily pleased crowd (which I don't exactly believe so), b.) unlike myself, listeners that are sometimes much too kind with very little constructive criticism, or c.) none of the above, but oh so cool! Regardless, I've got to personally thank everyone for each and every comment, and for taking the time to tune into my very first show. Somehow, it'd typically seem a recipe for an embarrassing situation, but it's been a pleasure.

Comments and many more lengthy emails have shown me that I've accomplished one goal with flying colors, regarding the feedback and opinions on the music selection. I had a theory behind it, as I tied one hand behind my back and focused from a different angle. Notice, the very little-- if any-- real chart toppers, which would have skewed the opinion for very different reasons than what I was looking for. That technical confusing way I think, plus the fact that the program, after all, is called "Radio Freedom"!

Maybe it's a bit obvious that programming is "my thing", but this was a blast. And then, of course...

I've critically gone over my show again and again, nit-picking and correcting. I'll put the pressure on myself now by guaranteeing that round two-- whenever that may be-- will be a hundred times better.

Thanks so much for your time... and ears!
