Kool Oldies 1570 has flipped

Tuned them in on my way to lunch and heard news.... They are now News-Talk 1570 using American Radio News network.

They are also using IRN news for the TOH news

Rocky is still around because I heard a promo for his show starting at 8:00.... so he gets to sleep in one more hour!
His promo needs updating because it was for Monday...

So much for the music!! I liked their music format.....even though I had to tolerate the AM noise.

Now that 1570 dropped oldies, I wish someone would purchase 1450 and put oldies on there. "The True Oldies Channel" would be my choice.

Is the AP Radio feed still available? I'd trust them for accuracy and reliability much more than anything associated with The Washington Times, as is America's Radio News. I also see that the Midnight Radio Network, the truckers' network with the oil company shills, is back in the market. I agree with radiofan 502 about re-launching AM 1450 with Oldies.

I don't think the AP Radio feed is still available. That's the one that was on WRES 1080 and WGTK 970.

AP Radio discontinued their all-news feed in 2005. At that time, WGTK was carrying the AP News feed on the weekends. When the AP discontinuation occurred, WGTK was forced to carry infomercials and multiple repeats of Medved, Hewitt, and Prager on the weekends. Since then, WGTK's weekend lineup has improved tremendously with the addition of several local programs and a few weekend syndicated programs.

I didn't know that AP Radio was gone. I worked for a station that was one of the AP Radio's inaugural stations and remember their first news cast. At that time, they had Tom Martin, John Holliman, Dave Lubeski and other top-notch reporters. You are so correct, you got the true picture with the AP Radio newscasts.

WNDA / WTSZ is now simulcasting WHAS TV's 4PM & 5 PM newscast. At least that's one way to get local news on the radio!
That is a throwback to the 90s when WHAS had about 7 AM stations broadcasting their news product. I know 1550 WOCC carried one of their evening newscasts, along with the Paoli and Brandenburg stations.

When Hearst-Argyle bought WLKY-TV/AM a few years ago from Pulitzer, the local management begged them to retain WLKY-AM 970 as a complement to the TV news operation. Audio simulcasts and repeats of WLKY's local news product as well as some CBS-TV news shows were regularly aired.

WLKY-AM had a solid client list, was a profit center, not a loss leader, and had very respectable numbers with the rock-solid 5kw/DA-U signal. Unfortunately, they sold out to Salem who's done some strange programming over the years of ownership.
