KOOL Oldies

I'm feeling a little homesick, wondering how are the guys/gal
at my favorite KOOL 106.1 Oldies Station. Does anyone know
if the station in one of the top 5 stations? Top 10? Top 15?

Well Kevan Seal has run that station into the ground. It's more of a 70's station then anything now. They need to get Paul back, they are streaming online at kooltulsa.com

Not to mention that they sound automated half of the time. They used to play one 50's track every hour, but that's gone now too. There's not much difference between KOOL 106.1 and Star 103.3 now.

What gives? Why do you appear to hate K.Seal? From most indications,
the man is doing a good job. Is he not?

Like many "oldies" stations, KOOL has taken a noticable 70's bent. However, when "oldies" stations first appeared in the 1970s, they were playing songs from the prior two decades (50s - 60s). "Oldies" for many people now means 70s music.

KOOL has a HD2 broadcast called KOOL Chrome and you can hear it here.

So if music from the 70's is now "oldies", what does that make music from the 50's and 60's? "Ultra-oldies"?

According to my teenagers, it is "music for fossils".

The HD2 channel is better than the primary.

Kevan worked for our company for awhile. He is very talented. Our management didn't get along with him very well. They still operate the station like a Mom & Pop Shop. (which is a good thing!) Kevan was used to working for the big guys. ABC, Infinity, Cox, etc... I think he will do very well with Clearchannel. His production work here made us sound better. That helped us win a Dove Award.

I do think that 100.9 sounded better when Kevin was there. The station sounded like a big market station. The jock lineup was a bit stronger. (sorry KXOJDJ)
I cannot figure out why you didn't simulcast 100.9 on 97.1. The 100.9 signal is fairly weak south and east of the metro. It is hard to pick up 100.9 in parts of Owasso too. 100.9 comes in best in the parking lot of Ken's Pizza in Sapulpa.
