Kool trivia

TommyR ... whats this hangup about Johnny Rivers "Memphis" .. you need to get a life.

Hey TommyR,

Did you by chance hear KOOL play Rockin' Pneumonia by Johnny Rivers yesterday afternoon???? I couldn"t help but think of you and turn the volume all the way up!!! ;D

No...but I did hear Poor Side of Town this evening (again) and thought of all of you!

I guess I know what will be playing on the radio if I go to hell. :D

Gees, Tommy. With all the major problems going on in the country right now and obviously the world too, I wouldn't loose sleep over Johnny Rivers.

If you get 10 people in a room, it's rare to find agreement on anything nowadays and music selection is certainly in there too. But for what it's worth, KOOL should be playing Johnny Rivers. Without going into a lot here, I know he tests well among older adult demos and his music complements the format.

Some time ago in S. Fla, I saw Johnny Rivers in concert with a bunch of other "oldies" acts like Paul Revere, the 4 Tops and someone else I can't remember which says a lot for that artist. But, get this, I still remember Johnny got the biggest reaction from the audience and I observed that he seemed to attract both men and women and multiple age groups. That's one of the reasons you hear Johnny in power rotation and one of the things KOOL should continue to do. I have KOOL back on my car presets as I do like Tom Murphy but I will say this - unless I'm just tuning in at the right times - they seem to be tightening the playlist and they have an overall better sound. There's always been potential for them but when listeners aren't aware you exist, about all anyone can expect is for them to do no better than a 2 share - if even that much. Heck of a way to do business.

And, Tommy, I had the "Best of Johnny Rivers" CD I was going to give you as a stocking stuffer for the holidays. Guess I'll have to think of something else. LOL...just a little joke...I like everybody....

It's hilarious about you and your Johnny Rivers hell...I don't know you, but we could already be friends...
Without turning it into a pop culture board, what would everyone's idea of "radio hell" be?? from bad jock crutches; to three-songs-in-a-row that you would know you're in hell.......

my fifteen minutes in radio hell would consist of a 5 minute morning show break that had about 45 seconds of compelling radio, followed by "Sugar Shack" by Jimmy Gilmer (the worst #1 EVER?); then hear the Arf come out of a r&b song, when he puts his "this is blackest voice I own" voice on. Segue into 5 minutes of Dan Hicken and Jeff Prosser talking ALL OVER each other and the callers, where you have no clue what any of them are saying... ooof!

Have fun!

Re: Kool trivia, who cares, thsi station is God awful!!!!!

the title says it all, again Renda hangs on to this weak, pathetic station. Sorry folks, the format is old, tired and they have no listeners. Move on.............

For some of you you'll get your wish KOOL is history ASAP .. word is Tom Murphy was let go earlier today. Good luck to Tom ..if he didn't have a non compete Cox or Clear Channel would be stupid not to pick him up.

I heard that the big change is happening today at 3pm. Can't wait to see how they screw up another format.

Arf got fired too but Briggs is still there!!! Actually that should be "Arf got fired too but Briggs is still there???" You can't tell me that the World Famous wouldn't be better at what ever this format is going to be than Briggs!

Gee....just what Jax needs....another station that sounds urban. That makes 5 that will be dividing the pie, or is it more than that?

Are they streaming Brunswick's, I'm sorry, Jacksonville's newest station? For some reason I couldn't get the stream to work on my computer on the old Kool. Any observations other than Renda Management's challenge in assessing air talent? Murphy is gone and Briggs stays. I'm still shaking my head!

Seriously what does everyone think of the new Jammin', sorry again, Movin' 100.7?

What happened to that Mburg kid? He could explain this.

According to R&R, the station is "under the command of veteran programmer Chuck Beck."

That's not to say that "MoveMaster B-Dub Bickley" isn't ready to do an airshift soon.

The station IS streaming: go to kool1007.com (that's Kool with a K, 1-0-0-7 dot com)

Movin1007.com points to another station in another market, likely under the same consultant as the logos match.
