KOOL Weekends

Closed circuit for new KOOL-FM PD Kris Abrams:

First you changed the positioner from "KOOL 94-point-five"
to the somewhat unwieldy "94-point-five KOOL-FM" which
also changed to jingle melody for the worse.

Then you start the "nameless faceless voice guy" schtick
which, while it was a novelty at first, has become annoying.

Now you dump regular format on Saturday mornings for syndication
(moved from Sunday evenings). What's the deal with this?

Specialty shows belong on Saturday night, Sunday morning,
or Sunday night--not 6-10 Saturday morning. It's too primo a
weekend daypart to "throw away."

Bring back Liz Boyle with the regular format, even if it is the same
86 songs ;D and leave Gary Bryan for Sunday night--and KRTH.

The reason for the latest change at KOOL is because Liz Boyle is retiring from KOOL; her last weekend is going to be the last one this month.

I'm really going to miss listening to her on the weekends!! (Already do, this weekend)... We can still hear her every weekday, noon to 4, on RadioFreePhoenix.com, which is always good times!

Also, I hear something about listening for her on KPHO 5, but I don't know anything else about that yet. Anyways, I wish Liz the best of luck and we'll really miss you! And thank you for everything! :)

By the way Oldiesfan, I have to say, I still agree with you!

But I have to admit, I always get a laugh out of the NFVG (I finally got that right) commercial: 94.5 "Peabody" KOOL-FM. :D

I'm curious to know what will be on Sunday evening... 8pm- midnight?? Dennis Mitchell?

I like nameless faceless voice guy. His style of humor has me visualizing him as the "15-years-down-the-road" version of the lead, male character in "Knocked-Up".

Liz Boyle is one of the best female oldies jocks in the country-give her a big raise and keep her ::) Gary Bryan, from the esteemed KRTH, paled in comparison this morning; an observation I found interesting.

KOOL's always been very locally oriented, weekend mornings, which made the switch to syndicated, equally jarring. I think lack of syndicated weekend programming is what set KOOL ahead of the pack on the weekends, as weekend mornings on the news talkers is unbearable.

I hope they keep the dance party. I guess we'll see, tonight.

Are they shakin' their groove thang where you are tonight?

Closed circut to Oldies Fan: There will be a flag flying at the towers, soon ;D- JD

Waking up to the sound of Liz Boyle's voice every Saturday morning has been a true pleasure. I was thrilled when she came back after the last 94.5 KOOL-FM train wreck was cleaned up. As someone else posted, one of KOOL's strengths was being live and local, especially on the weekends. Even if Liz is retiring, five hours of canned syndicated programming does not work on a Saturday morning. They've really blown it...

The station's rightful name is KOOL 94.5. Has been for most of those "five decades" we keep being reminded about by nameless faceless voice guy (who needs take his annoying schtick and go away quickly). KOOL goes through PD's like underwear, and for some reason every other one insists on changing the name to 94.5 KOOL FM. Maybe the 2008 PD will change it back again.

Good luck, Liz. You're one of the best.
