Last I heard they had a midday opening or something. But I never heard who (if anyone) filled it.
But honestly unless you're really aching for a gig, why would you go to work there? A flip, or something of that nature, is unavoidable soon because of the sad state of programming there. Everyone knows when CC starts messing with things, people get ejected. Stability is not exactly how one would describe CC, Tulsa right now.
In addition, there's the recent CC vote to sell. Things like that always cause ripples in the pond of security company-wide.

Sure would be nice to get back oldies. Take the WCBS playlist and run. That station sounds great. The current playlist on KOOL belongs on your IPOD. That way you can listen and nobody else will know what you are playing.

Your advice about copying and pasting the WCBS playlist is definitely preferable to what is apparently going on there now.
I wonder what's taking them so long to make a change. It's obviously a BIG problem. I'm interested in your opinion since you seem to know the groups in the market well.

1) They held me for TWO songs today! Earth Wind & Fire's "Let's Groove," followed by Rod Stewart's "Young Turks." That's a 100% improvement in my personal TSL.
2) Whose bright idea was it to run a test tone on 93.5 during afternoon drive? (Yes, I listened to a TONE all the way home... I'm a total radio junkie...)

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I don't think they could do that. It is specifically licensed as a fill-in repeater for KQLL-FM, Owasso... it's not like buying and selling a standalone station.
When the tower truly was in Owasso (or maybe north of there, up around Nowata I think), the repeater maybe made a little more sense. These days, I'll admit, I don't know what it covers that 106.1 doesn't.
Still, who wouldn't like a second place on the dial for people's scan to stop, for listeners to have a second chance to stick with what you're playing?
(Maybe if they can sell it, they should offer it to JazzTulsa?) ???

For example, no one who owned it could repeat their own station unless its signal contour was solely within the primary station's 60 dBu signal contour, and, no, GodChannel couldn't operate it as a satellite because it's outside of the non-commercial band.
Granted, I've been out of Tulsa for almost 15 years, but I used to live near 23rd and Sheridan, and 106.1 was always scratchy there. There was a lot of picket fencing on 106.1 while driving through the neighborhood. Of course, I wasn't going to have a button for 93.5 in the neighborhood and another for 106.1 once I got to Yale. So, it really didn't do them much good in that respect. The Walkman also didn't pick up KOOL 106 very well (had to turn the stereo pilot off), and 93.5 came in a lot better. In fact, that translator used to cause problems with me listening to 94.1 The Hawk on my Walkman!
Well, Jazz Tulsa has a translator at 94.9 in Owasso that puts out a decent signal. However, 94.9 is non-existent and 107.9 is still weak in my old neighborhood. A sell to Jazz Tulsa would not likely be possible as I believe the 60 dBu signal of 107.9 stops at around 31st and Sheridan. However, they could sell it to someone who would agree to relay Jazz Tulsa. Of course, I don't see that happening. The FCC records show 93.5 as being located at the Clear Channel compound. I seem to remember it as being at the Fairgrounds right next to Zingo. Of course, given that the Fair Board has decided the public would be better served with that area as a parking lot, that could be a recent change.

How good is this 103.7's signal around Tulsa? It's fairly spotty around OKC...
Can you get it on table radios and walkmans in the N. Tulsa Metro?

Sounds like it's not perfect then, but at least usable for those hunting smooth jazz up in Tulsa. The theoretical doesn't even really cover the town so I'd say it's working better than expected it seems.

As far as 103.7, my car radio isn't as sensitive as some, and my experience was that from highway 20 and highway 169 south to I-44 it was there but pretty unlistenable. I-44 from 169 to Yale was about the same. Yale to Lewis, the signal was quite good in the rising parts of the highway, and rough in the dips. From the Lewis exit of I-44 to 81st & Lewis, it was basically unlistenable.
I never got my seek to stop on it.
Admittedly this was on a cloudy day; I'll try it on a clear day next week and see if results change.

Atmospheric conditions certainly does effect their signal in OKC quite a bit. Being as far from the metro as the tower for 103.7 is, the signal gets beat up anytime there's ducting to Kansas or other places. Some days KEYN in Wichita is all I can hear...
