KOSO Downgrade Approved to Enable Sacramento Move-in.

At only 6,000 watts versus 50,000 watts that station won't hit Merced like before I bet. Wonderful!!!

More importantly (sorry Merced), but Stockton will loose usable coverage of a station that now puts a city-grade signal over the entire city.

Oh and before anyone discounts the revenue potential in Stockton, remember this.....Stockton stations (which include....KMIX, KSTN-FM, KWIN, KJOY and KQOD) only get about 35 percent of the listening audience which will will reflect the BIA numbers. Conversely, the Stockton advertisers on Modesto stations which make up about 25 percent of Stockton's audience will be credited to Modesto's BIA numbers. The end result....Stockton's revenue numbers are low for the market rank and Modesto's numbers are high for it's respective market rank.

What I don't understand is why Clear Channel does such a poor job promoting their two Stockton properties (KMRQ although in San Joaquin County is claimed by CC for Modesto). When 1280 was simulcasting 1360, it was little more than a translator of a Modesto-centric talk station. They could have simply run a separate automation system to separate the station to improve imaging for Stockton. If you look at KQOD, the seem to like to promote events at Rookies in Manteca. Why not a Saturday evening event in Stockton?
I guess it's too far of the staff in Modesto to drive up.....Hmmm.

Sounds like another CC down grade, Like they did in Bakerfield ,And maybe in Fresno, I'm thinking they will sell it when they do this so to support there Stocton stations.

The application grants for KOSO and KJDX have been rescinded by the FCC for reasons unknown at this time.

FWIW, I was up in Quincy last week and KJDX was on the air both on 93.3 and via their 92.1 translator. With what sounded like a full load of spots. If this change will actually happen, the legacy owners are milking it for all it's worth.

With all the stations serving the Sacramento region already why in the world does Clear Channel want to move this station here? The area that is now being served by KOSO 93.1 is going to have/has some major growth in all the areas its signal now serves over the next twenty or thirty years. The area north of the 205/580 split eastward is one area, along with many more. Are they not seeing this already? Aren't they already the 800 lb gorrilla there? Sacramento is way over radioed as it is now!

Believe it or not...There is much more revenue potential in Sacramento for CC.

They will gain more by having a new station in Sacramento than the loss in Stockton. I do feel that Stockton is getting robbed in this situation.
