Koss Pro 4AA headphones

I didn't use them in the 60s/70s but many DJs have said they were the best, or at least their favorites. They have been out of production but lately Koss has re-introduced them. Are they the same? Do the new Pro 4AAs sound better or worse. If you had to have a pair would you go with the new ones or track down a decent vintage pair?

Gosh, I would hope they don't weigh as much as the old ones.
They did sound great but were on the "less-sensitive" end of the spectrum of headphones. They needed to be driven hard,
and then were never as loud, but kept a perfect balance between low midrange and highs at any volume.

They were fine for their time (but heavy).

15 years ago, I switched to Sony MDR-V600s. Love them. In fact, I still use that 15-year old pair on a daily basis.

Come to think of it, the Pro 4AAs never held up that long. I always needed a wire or had a leaking ear cushion every year or two.

I had the Koss' back in the 70's/80's and I remember both the weight and sweatin' to the oldies thanks to the fuild filled cushions. I've been using the Sony MDR-7506 which I believe are the older version of the one Michael mentioned above. Love them and been using them since the late 80's without any problems. My backups are the consumer version Sony MDR-V6.

As an FYI, if you have either of the two Sony models above I've found compatible Beyer Dynamic replacement earpads are more durable than the stock Sony ones that would flake off black specks of the cushion as they age.
