KOST Goes Christmas

Got an email from Don Barrett, KOST went Christmas at 5 o'clock this afternoon. A friend heard it, Michael Buble broke in on Bryan Simmons' show and they made the flip.

Merry Christmas all long the coast :D

Does this make them number 1 in the nation?

I saw artificial trees going on the shelves before Halloween so not surprising.

here in boston we have 6 stations inthe area playing xmas music now and two that went the first week of nov!!

Can an all Christmas all the time station be on the horizon? With artificial trees ans ornaments hitting the shelves in the first weeks of October maybe we could just leave up the decorations all year. Or to borrow from the musical "Mame" "We Need A Little Christmas" and given the current economy and political morass that is probably more true than ever before.

Hobby Lobby, a craft store has had Christmas merchandise since early August.

It does seem like it is getting earlier and earlier each year. Can't wait for KOST to switch to Xmas music next year right after July 4th.

They just keep flipping early, don't they?

KOST might as well drop AC all together and adopt an all-Christmas format ;D

I must say kost has such a repetitive playlist for xmas. I thought my hometown station was bad at least on the ac station there they do play rascal flatts santa claus is coming to town along with god rest ye by bare naked ladies and chris martin have yourself a merry little christmas

I mean just sayin kost needs to pick it up a bit. Enough with the celine dion all t he time or barry add a few moreupbeat artists. This is los angeles where we are suppose to be adventureous on the cutting edge. This is the town that had indie 1031 and still has jonesyes jukebox but obviosuly not when it comes to xmas music

Actually KOST usually goes Christmas within a few days of of the same date every year. This year they went the day before their Disneyland party, last year it was the night of the party and in years past it was the day after, so they really didn't go early, at least not in relation to when they usually do.

As for the music, yes, it's terrible. From what I've heard, this is the second year that corporate programmers have had control of the KOST Christmas playlist. Lot's of repetition, lots of the same song by different artists. Honestly KOST sounded much better when the holiday programming was handled locally. I mean, I didn't like it that much then, but going back to letting the KOST PD do the music would be a vast improvement. Clear Channel, they really are like Kmart, but that's nothing to aspire to.

The mcdonaldlization the walmartization continues of r country :(:(:( I remember when in 2000 whatever the adult stanadrd station was on am played all christmas tunes n it was awesome!!!I am no fan of light rock but luv christnmas music n kost is better then nuttin but clear channel should be ashamed of themselves for playing the same 200 songs by the same 200 artists no my bad more like 50 no my bad 103.5 artists lol

As i said even in my hometown of louisville ky number 54 market where there is a cox owned ac n even though 95% of the music is the same they throw people like me a bone somewhat with chri martin have yourself a merry little christmas n god rest ye with barenaked ladies and some country version of santa claus is coming to town. And that is market 54 very sad.

I bet most 24/7 christmas stations r corporately programmed.

Didn't 24/7 christmas stations weren't they born for the most part out of 9/11?

The imaging could be better too. I heard them say "It's Christmastime till Christmastime" ???

They've been saying it on their imaging since they started going all Christmas.
It's self explanatory, nothing wrong with that IMHO.

I'm gonna start "feeling Christmasy" every April 15th and beyond forever and ever and ever.

Maybe KOST can fulfill my earholes with the appropriate 100 songs forever and ever and beyond.

Just seems like a funny way of saying it... it's like saying it's December till December. It would make more sense to say it's Christmastime till Christmas.

No one mentioned but KOLA went Christmas too...i think about the same time as KOST. I don't know how repititious their playlist is compared to KOST because I changed the station once they went all Christmas but I'm sure some people tune KOLA as well outside the IE.

KFSH went all Christmas last year too. It looks like they've only mixed it in with the rest of their playlist for now... it's in rotation about every 3rd to 5th song
