KOST has gone Christmas

halloaaryn said:
KOST is now playing all Christmas music as of either 9 or 10 AM

Simultaneously, they also lost their preset status in both my car or home... they should return around Dec. 23rd...

Since most "Johns" I know are men, and KOST's target is women. Frankly, my dear, I don't think they give a damn if you listen or not.

David, just curious, what the average TSL for a station like KOST during the christmas music period?

Last year it was a tad over 8 hours in 12+ in december, vs. around six and a half in prior months. The Christmas thing also increases come by about 200 thojusand over normal, so they gdt a combination of higher cume and TSL.

My female friends in the Target Demo usually tune them out too this time of the year. But you don't care about that either, do you?

I really don't care much either way, since I don't work for or at KOST.

Assuming you have a half dozen female friends in the "target demo" (which is probably 6 more than reality given the demeaning manner by which you identify them), what would you say the margin of error is in a randomless probability sample where n=6 in a city of 13 million?

KOST has the most slow and boring christmas music playlist that I have EVER heard.

Suicides tend to go up during the holidays, and KOST's depressing blend of super-slow christmas music might have a little to do with it.. lol

but seriously, BORING! Christmas is supposed to be bright, fun and cheery. Not dull, boring and sleepy.

Looks like you don't really listen to them very much. If you did you would hear up-tempo songs as well.
It's Christmas for over a month and it would seem that you have to play a little bit of everything, slow songs included. That's a lot of air-time to fill.
If you just stuck to playing the "up stuff" you would be rotating songs too quickly.

For most of us, Christmas is supposed to be the time we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

What's up David? What happened to your Old Gringo friend?

I had an XP problem, and couldnot remember the OldGringo p/w, so reverted to his alter ego. It's nice to be bipolar on-line.

KOST has gone all Christmas.

And KRTH has gone all Christmas KOST!

:-[

And not much of their "Christmas music" really has much to do with Christmas...

Little Drummer Boy (one of the few actual oldies they're still playing) is fairly religious.

But I personally don't care if it's secular or religious Christmas music. Only if it's good oldies.

Let the people who want to hear Mannheim Steamroller, Manilow, and the Carpenters go to KOST. I want my car radio to play Elvis singing "Santa Claus is comin' - down your chimney tonight!"
