KOST is off the air

Whew! Any longer and one of the other Cheap Channel FMs
would have had to flip to all-Christmas music. ;D

Anyone know why ?
Because people are BEYOND tired of hearing Christmas music 24x7 on stations 3,4,5,6,7 weeks before the big day, that's why... hopefully, it will continue to happen in the coming days. Maybe THEN they will get the hint!

Does anyone of you know what year the first time kost went 24/7 christmas? The first station i remember to go all christmas was in 2000 the adult standard station on am ksurf was all christmas thanksgiving day. Was 2000 the first year an la station went all christmas the whole season? I don't believe kost went 24/7 christmas that year for i don't think 24/7 christmas was born till 2000 or the early 00's. I mean doing all christmas from thanksgiving on

The problem was at our transmitter site on Mt. Wilson and the only way to correct the problem was to send one of our engineers there.
Considering the degree of difficulty in getting there at that time of the day I'd say he did a great job getting us back on the air.

The answer to hotpatrick2004's question of when KOST first did the 24/7 Holiday format is 2001.

Hey bryan where did the idea of playing christmas 24/7 come from? Was it born in a suits office in nyc or los angeles or did some suit say hey lets drive people nuts and play christmas music from thanksgiving on non stop? I like it but the soft rock stations all over the country have the same playlist be it cox or cc or cbs.

It was a product of trying to make people feel better after 9/11. That was the first year. Many stations saw a bump in the Fall Book and decided to run with it in future years. What I find to be silly is that station would sell fall ratings after Christmas when listening numbers would return to normal.

Christmas music torture is an annual event thanks to 9/11.

Anyone here in LA want to go on a sleigh-ride?

It's less than a week before Christmas and I'm ready for some Christmas music... My radios aren't going anywhere near KOST again though until 12/24.
