KOSW-LP 91.3 Becomes a Full Power FM KOSW 89.9

1200 watts with grade-A coverage in Pacific Beach. They definitely needed this full-power signal. Good going, KOSW! Does this mean 91.3 is now a silent frequency on the coast?

Meanwhile...it forces KXPB-LP, Mr. Wacky and the crew in Pacific Beach to move to 89.9, CP filed to go to 100 watts with similar coverage. (Per Radio-Locator) They have a live stream now. I need to go visit that Wacky Warehouse sometime. I haven't been there in many years...I was still in middle school on vacation w/family 😲

KXPB seems to have changed a great deal from the days that Kelly was running it from his business. I understand Kelly passed away and Mr. Wacky had been involved since the start, Back in the early days it was a true classic AOR playing the commonly played tracks that album rock radio aired with a mix of some more recent material. Kelly dayparted with more lite material in the morning and a few pop oldies through the afternoon blended in. Late nights it was more New Ago/Windham Hill, I'd say the dayparting was more 'seasoning' for the general format. IDs were every 20 minutes and he carried FSN News a time or two in AM and PM drive. There were a few locals doing a show. He was doing okay too. I think he had about a dozen underwriters at $350 a year for one a day. It sounded quite good.

Lately it has been tracking an album or playing some unknown music sometimes with a few seconds of silence between tracks or sometimes abruptly cuts to the next tune. I am happy KCPB does stream. That tells me whatever they are doing is working.
