KOTC Flip? - My830

Rolling down the AM dial this morning (Saturday), I discovered that KOTC 830 is playing MOR classic hits . "This is my music, this is my time, this is My830." While waiting for a station ID, I jotted down a partial playlist: CSNY, Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Chicago. Easy to see that's a boomer demographic.

The station ID given was "MyTalk 830 Kennett, MO". Heard a promo spot for Fox Radio Network (http://foxradionetwork.com/), where you'll see a KOTC My Talk 830 station logo.

Put your ears on.

I think this has been going on for a while. I heard the same thing on my last trip to St Louis some months ago. They seem to have talk during the week and music on the weekends.

If you listen closely you'll notice that the music is left-channel only, which makes songs like Suite Judy Blue Eyes sound really odd. I heard that song both times I heard them playing music, over the course of two weekends. I'm pretty it's a very limited set of music they have.

I heard the same situation this past week with what I presumed to be a Dyersburg AM oldies station. They were only broadcasting one channel (either left or right) as their main AM audio. I would love to tell them, but if it's like most stations, there is no one to tell anymore.

The Music is started at the time of day that the earliest sign off would be for the year. Some months the station signs off as early as 4:45. The station ownership doesnt want to schedule talk programming that would be capable of being aired some months and then impossible to air when the sunrise/sunset dictates the station to be signed off.

Glad you mentioned the left channel problem. Didnt know about it, I will fix it. Thanks again.

Outstanding!
