KOTC Move?

There was a generator at the TX site when I buzzed by. I guess to run the 830 transmitter on. The generator has not been there in the past.

I *assume* they have made some sort of a signal in the past few days. CP was to expire 1/1.

BTW: KOTC filed an application this morning to SELL to the WVIM people for $200k (or, more if CP is issued for more power). The Asset Purchase Agreement can be found here:

https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS...?appn=101481753&qnum=5040&copynum=1&exhcnum=1

I have only scanned it briefly. I can, though, opine why they might want it. Think translator.

DE, please expound a little here; would 95.3 be doing an AM simulcast? (I'm just a listener, not in the biz).

I'm just guessing here, but...

An AM simulcast does 95.3 little good. Perhaps they have an idea for a niche format for 830, e.g., Oldies, but I doubt that's what it is about.

They may intend to get a "fill-in" translator in the City. The 95.3 signal would not qualify for a fill-in (and the higher ERP possible), but 830 would. So, in that case, the station has value.

At one time, 95.3 was getting the still-unconstructed 105.5 translator, set to be 250W in North Memphis. It is now listed as translating 1380; I am not sure what the deal is there.

Again, just guessing.

I have not caught a signal on there but it could have came and went without my detection and probably did just as Watt explained earlier.

I have buzzed by the WLOK site a couple times just to see if by chance I caught a warm body there working noting first lots of tire marks where the gravel and pavement ends. Then on the second trip a portable generator like you pull behind a truck was parked in front.

I dont know if it really matters whether KOTC goes 5k or 50k.
The same owner of WVIM?
You see how well he has done with that.

I'm having a flashback...

I haven't seen this much excitement about a new AM signal since 1990...uh, 80...uh, 70 something.

Ok, it was 1982 when WGSF went on, but...

Just what the market needs...another low-powered AM that no one will listen to (heck, according to Arbitron, a whopping 15% of all radio listening in the metro is on AM), and something else for the sale staff at The Rebel to foist on an unsuspecting business community.
