Was driving along Beltway 8 between I-10 and 290 last night and found a strong Spanish language religious station clashing with a fairly strong KVST. I never got an ID, but I believe this is KOYM-LP, whose licensed transmitter site is around 2 1/2 miles east of the Beltway. I can't see what else it might be with such a strong signal. KOYM is owned by Fourth Angel Broadcasting Network, a Spanish language religious operator.
The KOYM signal was solid in spots where it dominated, but the KVST signal is also pretty good in that area. It was a basic FM capture effect dogfight between two strong signals. As we mentioned some months back on one of the other LPFM threads KOYM will have its coverage severely limited by KVST. Even co-channel KHGV, which is much farther south has much of its coverage area affected by K-Star.
The KOYM signal clash weakened as I crossed 290 and KVST has the frequency all to itself at my Cy-Fair location.
I'll have to see if KOYM puts in any sort of listenable signal along 290 or the West Loop during my commute Monday morning.
