KPAM Adds More Local Programming

Portland's KPAM (860 AM) is moving morning host Bob Miller ("The Dean") to 7-11 AM, bumping Fox News Radio's John Gibson. With the show now sandwiched between a two-hour morning news block starting at 5 AM, and Victoria Taft's established 11 AM-3 PM show, KPAM now has ten straight hours of live and local programming. As such, they're rebranding themselves as "The Voice of Portland" in conjunction with the schedule shuffle.

"The Voice of Portland."

Well, you'd probably laugh too when you consider that their transmitter site, being a convenient six-minute drive *north* of my place, is really no-where near Portland at all!

There are very few AM or FM stations in Seattle that broadcast from inside city limits. The fact that KPAM is licensed to Troutdale OR and the xmtr is in Clark County doesn't mean much at all to the customers or the clients.

Another talk station realizing the value of live and local programming! BRAVO KPAM!!!! Add Portland to the list of markets that offer more local talk shows than NYC! WABC, WOR can't you see what's happening in the world beyond the Hudson!

Only Miami offers less live and local talk than New York. Enough said! :)
