KPAT FM NOW CENTRAL COAST'S HIT MUSIC STATION

When did they drop the R&B, Hip-Hop & Old School to become Central Coast's #1 Hit Music Station? I'm guessing since KVYB is smokin' them now -- they became straight RHYTHMIC?

Any thoughts?

They're getting smashed from all angles.

KVYB is stomping them.

The new Mega 97.1 is all Old School (no point in playing much of that anymore)

and Wild 106 out of SLO is pulling a fair amount of audience doing Top 40.

Funny thing is... even though the new handle is "The #1 Hit music station"

on what planet is Ese Daz a hit?

Just look at the playlist... littered with junk.

They have a large Hispanic audience. So they'll jump on Ese Daz, Lil Rob, Pitbull and the likes.

I thought they were like number 2 in the market, had NO idea they were getting stomped.

And they probably are one of the stations that claim Hit Music but lean rhythmic. Similar to KLUC in Vegas.

They're actually currently 6th 12+, and KVYB out of Ventura (without targeting Santa Maria AT ALL) is almost a whole share ahead of them. As for the "ese daz" song... (just picking out one song... there's others)... it's not being played on any other station in the country. And even in hispanic markets... most of the lil rob, mc magic, pocos pero locos stuff isn't working these days.

That station is an absolute disaster... sad thing is, theres a hole for a station like that in Santa Maria... it could do really well. But not with a country morning show, Hip-Hop imaging, and music that's all over the place (that's being nice), and a name that was already used in the market (am I the only one who remembers the equally awful Mega 95.7?) Too bad nobody will try it again for a few years.

Whoever is in charge over there is SOOOOO out of touch.
