If the station wasn't trying for say San Angelo or Midland/Odessa where it would be a rimshot at best, a Big Lake station would flounder financially. When there was an AM in the market (KWGH) it never billed more than about $80,000 in one year with about $3,000 a month being the norm through the better part of the 1980s...even worse when I was there since I was pretty clueless at that point. Big Lake is not as prosperous as it was when I was there before the big oil bust in the 1980s. In fact I would guess $3,000 a month would be pretty accurate today and maybe the same amount from nearby towns, likely not enough to keep the lights on and have a local presence.
