KPFT Launches HD-2

just noticed they have an hd-2 channel now haven't been able to listen much though because it drops out a lot in league city can anyone tell me what format it is?

yeah its Tejano with a mix of latin hip hop. Its called Latino mix... Ha ha ha ha just kidding I have no idea!

Interesting history. The KKK blew up their transmitter twice in 1970.

As of 7am Friday morning, they are carrying BBC World Service. Gosh how times have changed. BBC sure sounds better this way than it did on my shortwave radio years ago !

Old Chicago

I listen to BBC World Service on my XM and you're right, Old Chicago, this stream sounds far superior to the XM version.

That is excellent news. The BBC just recently axed the last of its shortwave schedule to the western hemisphere (dropping the Caribbean beams on March 23) so this will be great for those who want to listen without having to boot up the computer to access the internet stream.

It has become rather difficult to hear the Beeb on shortwave in North America anymore--their Africa beams tend to put in usable signals here, but as we're at the low point of the sunspot cycle, reception isn't always reliable.
