KPFW-LD is on the air

It's a Spanish religious channel, on channel 61 for now. (They've applied to move to channel 33 sometime after KDAF turns their analog signal off.) The content may not be particularly interesting to readers of this forum, but you never know.

Their 15 kW signal is broadcast from downtown Dallas rather than Cedar Hill, so depending on where you live, you may need to adjust your antenna to receive it.

They still have some bugs to work out. As of this evening, there was no audio.

Looks like JEMIR decided to go to color bars until they can figure out the audio problem.

The same church owns KZFW 6 (analog). Once they get the bugs worked out it'll be interesting to see if both channels carry the same programming.

KZFW has two applications with the FCC to go digital, but as we know from KHPK channel 3, low power VHF-Lo digital stations usually aren't a good idea. I'm guessing they'll keep KZFW on analog since that lets their members tune in their audio at 87.7 MHz on many FM radios.

Finally, KPFW has actual programming. It is a simulcast of KZFW (analog channel 6). Also, JEMIR.org is simulcasting on KATA subchannel 50.4.

61.2 through 61.4 are still color bars.

KPFW has added the Hispanic Christian Community Network today on subchannel 61.2. HCCN is the outfit that owns KHFW, KQFW and KSFW in north Texas/south Oklahoma.

Dallas Hispanics can now watch six different Christian programs: channel 28 (analog), 31.2, 50.2, 58.4, Jemir.org (simulcast on channels 6, 50.4, and 61.1), and 61.2. (Anglophones, of course, have even more Christian TV choices: 2.1, 31.1, 34.1, 47.1, 51.1 if you can receive it, 58.1, 58.2, 58.3, 58.5, and 68.4.)
