KPHO Buries Soap For Tennis

The first of the last five episodes of ATWT gets "buried" overnight tonight
at 1:13 AM, due to KPHO-TV airing the tennis make-up game live 1-4 PM.

Posts on the National TV Board indicate that a number of CBS affiliates are
shifting either tennis or the affected regular programming to a sub-channel
or to a co-owned, non-"real" network, station in the market. In the east and
midwest they want to save their 5 and 6 PM newscasts.

KPHO has a continuous weather loop on channel 5.2 (which I believe is also
carried on Cox Digital), so why wasn't one of two entities--maybe the "odd
man out" one (tennis)--shifted to 5.2? The only viewers who might lose out
are those with analog cable and SDTV who were too lazy(?) to get a digital
converter for OTA TV.

Soap boards have noted that some other PT stations are also dumping today's
ATWT into the overnight hours , and that KOLD-TV Tucson is blowing off the
soap completely.

I wonder who made that decision? U.S. Open Mens Finals might bring in more ratings but to preempt ATWT during it's last week?

BTW it saves me because I forgot to set my DVR to tape today's ATWT. Thought I would have to go online to watch.

The channel 5 braintrust must have discussed it with Grandpa,
but they obviously didn't give it a great deal of thought. ;)
