KPHO opening for Chief Met!!!

On KPHO.com, they are advertising an opening for Chief Meteorologist. Anyone with inside knowledge??? Is Kent finally retiring (if he signed a 5 year contract, then it is up soon)? Is Sean taking Kent's place? Did Sean sign a 3 year contract and KPHO wants out of his high salary?

I came on here wondering about this myself. I'm wondering if Sean isn't replacing Kent at anchor desk. Then, just for some idle speculation, there's the fact that Bill Kelly resigned as ND in Medford a couple months ago for an "on air job" but hasn't yet revealed where that on air job is. Possible he's taking over as chief, then KPHO will have two former 12 wx guys? I always liked Bill Kelly so it would be nice to see him again, and he'd be SO MUCH better than the new wx guy at 12 who has absolutely no credibility to me. Not even a met and heading up their weather team.?!? What's that all about?

Oddly enough, Bill Kelly's bio is still available on McAzcentral- http://www.azcentral.com/12news/bios/articles/BillKelly-CR.html.

Hmmmm...I wonder if Bill Kelly will make a return to Mc12. That would be great!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Jimmy Q. is a swell, sunsational guy, but he is NOT a meteorologist! I'm sure Mc12 is saving $$$ by hiring a weather anchor vs. a real meteorologist, but I'm someone who likes to watch the weather given by someone who knows what they are talking about.

When "Jimmy Q" does the weather, I am always wondering if Jerrid Sebesta is sitting in the background somewhere compiling the forecast. I'm not impressed with Jimmy Q.

This market is generally embarrassing for its size. Seattle is a similar size and has grown rapidly over the years (perhaps not as fast as Phoenix, though). However, Seattle's newscasts are far superior to the junk that exists here in Phoenix. Many of the reporters in Seattle have decades of experience -- many at the same station for 10+ years.
