KPHO stoops to an all-time low!

It's Sunday night at 8 PM. What do you expect the local CBS affiliate to air at this time, a repeat of "Cold Case," right? Wrong. KPHO had the audacity to air an infomercial from 21st century snake-oil salesman Kevin Trudeau, followed by another paid program from the Franklin Mint. Once I saw what was on, I had a feeling that their phone lines were being swarmed with complaints despite the fact that they're not open.

I understand a station running a movie or a syndicated rerun in prime time for a "make-good" night, but this is taking things one step further. A major-market CBS affiliate should NOT be airing sleazy infomercials during prime time. It makes KPHO look like an amateur operation.

They also ran Crap TV Saturday night at 7, but in this case
I'm sure they'll attempt to justify it by the fact that the
8-9 ET hour (5-6 here, for air 7-8) was the tail end of
college basketball coverage.

However, CBS usually pre-feeds a repeat episode of the
"normal" show in that slot to the Mountain time zone
(typically during the previous overnight) sans spots, and
filled with PSAs that the station can cover with local sales.
(Unless they had an unexpected one hour runover in their
basketball coverage and no contingency plan for MT--
both regular MT and wacky AZ MT. ;D) This same rerun
episode would also air on the left coast feed from 8-9 PT.

At least KPHO-TV had the smarts to pick up a left coast
feed of the CBS Evening News at 6 (it was pre-empted
on the New York origination).
