KPHZ/KDTP swap one step closer

The FCC yesterday granted the applications for KPHZ and KDTP to swap stations. The initial timeframe was for the swap to take place this month - look for an announcement soon.
______________

From what it looks like on the FCC database, Channel 39 will move to the KPPX tower (where KDRX-CA is currently located) and Class-A Channel 48 will have to move in the process (most likely, to the KTVK tower, where KDTP has been operating from). The leases for each station's tower space wasn't included in the swap. Channel 39's power will be reduced a bit and the antenna will be at a higher point than the current operation, but given the engineering resources of NBC/Telemundo, this will most likely HELP the station's over-the-air picture quality.

No word on a set date for the swap to happen. The most logical date in the near future would be May 5, but it may depend on the time it takes for the new transmitting equipment to arrive and be installed.

Another step closer

Today, the FCC approved the transfer of LPTV stations KDRX-CA 48 and KPHZ-LP 58 from NBC/Telemundo to Community Television Educators. All license transfers in the KDTP/KPHZ deal have now been approved.

I expect the stations should begin announcing the switch soon.
______________
