KPNW back to Country?

Bryan "B-Dub" Washington returns to The Bull for afternoons.
He orginally was the afternoon host from April 2020 until the February 2023 flip to AAA.

That’s pretty cool. I think this gives 98.9 a competitive edge, and adds some local flavor to afternoons. I like it.

If I do something and then stop it to do something else (because it wasn't good enough), and then- after failing at that- go right exactly back to the previous thing I was doing- then am I (a) insane? (doing the same thing but expecting different results), (b) have identified something external that changed (situation changed to make the original thing more likely to succeed) or (c) revised my expectation as to what will make me happy? (basically settling).

I don't see where they're expecting different results. They hope to replicate the results they had previously. If they do, that will be a huge improvement over what they had most recently.

Not to mention, the previous version of The Bull suffered because of the pandemic, and that’s when everything started to go wrong. I’m assuming that billing dropped dramatically, and syndicated programming was their only real option. This could be a fresh start.

A month ago, Lotus flipped KPLZ Seattle to classic country. Today they did the same thing to a classic hits station in Boise:

According to this article, Boise is the third market that Lotus flipped to country. The second was in Reno.

Lotus appears to be going all in on classic country. Wonder if LA is next.

Was country radio strong in Los Angeles in the years the classic country now centers on -- late '80s through early '00s? If not, why would Lotus put a classic country station there instead of a more polished, better researched "hot country" rival to KKGO?

Lotus has no FM in LA.

The AMs are Spanish sports (good revenue), Spanish regional gold (bills well, I'm told) and Persian (big biller. There is no signal that would be appropriate for country, which needs far suburban coverage.

Again, Lotus has n no full signal FMs in LA (they do have a translator or two) so the question is not really valid.

Do you think Lotus gets a discount or extra perks using the format on three stations of their stations? It should make imaging the three stations easier.

Discount from whom?

I remember when the dickey's cumulus (not the current Cumulus) forced the Nash branding on their stations including some heritage country.
We all see how well that worked out.
