KPOO off the air again

Moving away from the double entendre posts,
Thank you! We must have a lot of middle-schoolers here.

does anyone have an explanation for such a considerable time off the air in a major market?
My best guess is that it's an all-volunteer or mostly-volunteer operation, dependent upon technical help who's probably overcommitted and having to prioritize other things such as projects or employers who actually pay...especially in a high-cost area like San Francisco.

No. It's a class A "full-power" station. It came on the air in 1973, well before the secondary LPFM class was introduced.
There has been a lot of confusion recently on these boards between LPFM and translators.

LPFM (with the usual caveat on anything from Wikipedia)
