KPRC and KHOU both starting 4:30am newscasts

The KHOU addition is interesting. It makes me wonder if Belo will do the same at WFAA in Dallas?

Some people must really have long commutes if they have to get their local news before 5am.

I haven't heard anything about any DFW stations wanting to have news earlier than 5am, but it seems like there was a recent rumor (where? can't remember) about KDFW/4 considering extending their morning news past 9am. I haven't been looking closely at Ed Bark's blog lately; he might (?) know something.

As for Belo, they started 4:30am local newscasts in Portland, Seattle, and Phoenix (and probably others) over a year ago. So, the Texas markets are behind the times!!!

I heard KTRK's doing the same thing too.

First FOX is expanding the morning newscast to 10am, now KPRC and KHOU are expanding to 4:30am?? Well, I guess it's an extra 30 minutes of watching Vicente Arenas try. ;D

I scan the local papers online when I check my email in the morning. Thats all the local news I need in the AM outside of traffic and wx. But WTF else will be on at 4:40am to watch????

some of the DFW stations do start@ 4:30 am in case of bad weather.
