KPRC and WTVJ swap

I think maybe I should clarify my own question.
Strictly hypothetical, but might NBC be interested
in KHOU as an affiliate, not necessarily an o&o?
I know, CBS is about two miles ahead of NBC in
the ratings now, which would probably discourage
KHOU from switching, but if KPRC wants to keep
pre-empting, NBC has got to get fed up, and KTRK
(ABC o&o) and KRIV (Fox o&o) are out of play.

Anybody have a possible scenario?
 
What exactly in the way of NBC programming does KPRC pre-empt these days? Not much. 'Poker After Dark' in the wee hours of the morning? It's not like in the past, when they pre-empted "Passions" and "Sunset Beach" and tape-delayed Conan. KHOU, meanwhile, tape delays Craig Ferguson's show to air 'Jeopardy.' Combine that with the fact Belo is quite content with KHOU being a CBS affiliate and the chances are nil.

There's no scenarios to talk about. KPRC is not being dumped by NBC and NBC cannot dump KPRC. The only station in the market that would have any interest in a new affiliation would be 39. That's not the direction NBC wants to go in Houston or any major market. There's no other network aff in Houston that would want the dismal NBC ratings with the dismal future. Leno is coming five night a week in prime in a stripped format. That's the deathknell of most networks although I doubt you'll see NBC go dark. NBC's problem will be hanging onto affilitates or keeping affs like KPRC from dumping prime every now and then, which NBC allows in their affiliation agreements. Channel 11 enjoys the high CBS ratings and affluent demos. Belo cherishes every CBS affilition they have and I'm sure kisses the CBS butt. They would NEVER consider becoming a CBS affil and Belo would never sell KHOU. They have a Texas network with stations in Houston, DFW, Austin and SA. They work that network cleverly in news gathering and sales. Like I said up front, there are no scenarios to discuss. What you see now is what you'll see in the foreseeable future.
 
You mean Belo would never consider becoming
an NBC affiliate; KHOU is already CBS. However,
don't forget that Belo owns two CBS affiliates
(KHOU and KENS) and two ABC affiliates (WFAA
and KVUE) in Texas; to read your response I would
have assumed four CBS affiliates if I didn't know better.

At any rate, the question was intended as strictly
hypothetical. I suppose I could stand to do more
homework; somebody made it sound as if KPRC was
like WSB in its later years with NBC, when it was not
uncommon for Atlanta's leader to pre-empt as much
as a fourth of the NBC schedule in a given year (but
even there, the switch to ABC was voluntary). But
I don't intend to imply that a KPRC/KHOU switch is
imminent.
