KPRC/Houston Offers DeLay Hosting Gig

All Access reported yesterday that Clear Channel conservative talker KRPC says it offered soon-to-be-ex congressman Tom Delay a gig - providing of course he doesn't do time. If he bites, whose slot would he get? KPRC has a former football coach in morning drive, a city councilman doing midmornings and Michael Savage in PM drive.

Is this a serious offer or a stunt? Anybody think "The Hammer" has the makings of a talk radio host? Has radio experience become a liability in this biz?

TOM DELAY may be leaving Congress under fire, but the controversial politician isn't without employment options: CLEAR CHANNEL/HOUSTON Regional VP of Programming KEN CHARLES tells ALL ACCESS that he's offering DELAY a hosting gig at Talk KPRC-A/HOUSTON.

“While I don’t have a specific shift," CHARLES says, "I will find one if he accepts. I am unable to discuss specifics of salary but with endorsements he’ll make six figures easily. On a station with RUSH (LIMBAUGH), (SEAN) HANNITY and (MICHAEL) SAVAGE, ‘THE HAMMER' would fit perfectly.

“Innocent, guilty, I don’t judge and I know it will all work out but I think he has all the tools to be a good local host," CHARLES says of the embattled former House Majority Leader.

No way. He won't have time to do it with the tons of speaking engagments and boards of directors for various groups he'll participate in.

Hopefully he won't be able to do it from jail too. ;)

Someone apparently never learned that ex-politicians make lousy talk show hosts.
______________

Neither do convicted felons.
Exhibit A: G. Gordon Liddy.

Yes, I know Delay hasn't been convicted of anything ... yet.

Wasn't there talk about Clinton hosting a radio show awhile back?

It just makes me sick that the radio pros lose jobs to ex-politicians that's why I'm glad I left the radio business.
