KPRC's New AM News Anchor

Lauren Freeman joined KPRC Local 2 in March 2006 to anchor Daybreak from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and Local 2 Midday at 11 a.m. on weekdays.

Is this the last change, or will there be more?

There is another new anchor about to start and of course Jerome Gray from Channel 11 debuts in August. Remember there is a new General Manager there and he is from a small market. Small market GM's that get promoted to large markets generally have a tougher time. They are so used to losing talent to larger markets that when they get to manage a larger market station they have no experience in managing longevity and consistency. That is the secret behind a large market station's success. You can bet there will be constant anchor and reporter changes for a while as KPRC watches themselves slip well into the number 4 news position behind Fox.

Will the last person left at Channel 2 please turn out the lights?<P ID="signature">______________

Lauren comes from the same station as the new GM, Post-Newsweek's WJXT in Jacksonville. Apparently he thinks his anchor starlet will solve KPRC's backslide. Jerome Gray and Wendy Corona from WPLG in Miami (another Post-Newsweek station) will helm the 4 and 6 p.m. news later this year. Rachel McNeill goes back to weekend evenings, alongside Khambrel Marshall. Courtney Zavala goes back to weekend mornings, also alongside Khambrel Marshall. Got all that? It's insane. They're on their fourth AM female anchor in less than a year. Way to build trust and loyalty with a stable news team. I hope Linda Lorelle ends up in Jerome's anchor seat at KHOU. I'd love to see her work for a classy news outfit and kick KPRC's a-- in the ratings.

And that's really embarassing, considering the folks running KRIV/Fox26 are complete morons with an employee revolving door equal to that of KPRC.
