KPYK Terrell Sold

It is, but that doesn't mean a whole lot and was the argument I was trying to make yesterday. In Terrell, KTCK 1310 and KRLD-FM 105.3 are what is left available, without static and dropouts, like the FM counterpart to 1310 is. There is certainly room for E Radio to add sports programming on 1570 and the translator, and be able to carve out a better place in the pecking order for the station. Mohnkern didn't care. The station was his toy, the format his passion. That won't be the case with the Tates.

Still is, 🐸. Only 103.3 is preaching at us now, as opposed to offering personal opinions, news stories and play by play.

I like Chuck Conrad's QX-FM regardless of my birth year being 1971. Sure, I'm an outlier, but the format still has a place up here in retirementville.

Of course, in this day and age, and with the demographic breakdown in Houston, it wouldn't anymore, but people tend to talk about it and K-DOK regularly around here. In a few more years, and after a few more truckloads full of out-of-state transplants, that will likely change. For now, Tyler-Longview has each of the options, and I strongly encourage everyone interested in the formats to give each of the stations a listen.
Trust me Chuck Mohnkern cares. There are circumstances you are unaware of and are private.

I didn't mean he doesn't care about the station, only that he didn't care about the money he could've made in changing KPYK to spoken word. KPYK has been flailing in the wind for some time, but he apparently loved the style of music and stuck with it when everyone else near Dallas moved away from any kind of music format on an AM.

I hope you understand, I wasn't taking any shots at Mr. Mohnkern, only that his love for the Standards and Big Band music left some money on the table.

I am old enough that, I don't hold grudges and hope we can be good friends on here instead. 😀

I will also apologize for misunderstanding. The thing is with voice we hear inflection, that que us to understanding. Texting is flat and misunderstandings happen more, or it could be my Asperger's picks up differently.

Maybe next time I get by Marshall, Henderson, Carthage or Tyler, we can go eat BBQ or a burger. 🙂

You and I share that particular portion of the spectrum, @RadioGuy71. I sometimes come off crass in my texts, aggressive as has been said to me before, but that's not my intention at all. My apologies to you, sir, that my words came off as any sort of attack against Mr. Mohnkern, or the spectacular work that he has performed throughout his career.

I am all for a meet-up, partner. Just drop me a line in PM whenever you're out this way, and we will coordinate it.

I'd suggest we steer clear of anything food or drink related in Marshall for the time being, though. Don't know if you've heard, but there is a severe water crisis ongoing with their system, due in part to a massive burst that has caused great havoc for both homes and businesses in the area.

By the way, and on a someone related note, a Silent Notification was filed by the Tates for KNCB AM/FM in Vivian yesterday. This is the former classic rock/classic country pair in NW LA. Apparently, they have taken them both, and the translator, silent as they prepare to sell them. Rather a surprise, given that the trio of signals were just purchased by the Tates in the last year or so.

If you listen to KPYK there are no commercials. I suspect the billing is Sunday Church programs and high school sports only. That alone will not cover the monthly expenses. From my checking, it has been that way a long time.
