KQBN-LP to be sold to Phoenix 6 TV (Bela)

It looks like KMOH may get their signal into Phoenix after all.

Una Vez Mas Arizona has applied for approval from the FCC to sell KQBN-LP 43 to Phoenix 6 TV. Phoenix 6 TV is the licensee of KMOH 6 in Kingman and has been trying to get must carry status for their station on the Maricopa County cable systems. They were recently denied by the FCC because even though Kingman is in the Phoenix DMA, KMOH's signal doesn't even come close to reaching the Phoenix area. Currently, KQBN-LP is running programming from Almavision, a Spanish-language Christian network, but I would expect them to switch over to simulcating KMOH after the sale, so then their signal would be in the Phoenix area.

Speculation - upon approval of the sale by the FCC, look for KMOH to renew their application for must carry status soon afterward.

I've always believed that KMOH was a satellite to KPNX, much the same way as KNAZ, Flagstaff.
I remember seeing legal ID's on 12 that read as such.

Did I miss something?

In 2001-2002, KMOH was a KPNX satellite station, then it became a satellite of KNAZ (which does have its own news programming) until last year.

Gannett had always thought of KMOH as an afterthought and even as a satellite station, it was losing money. Therefore, they sold the station to Bela, which has plans on using it as a full-powered station to get "must-carry" status on Phoenix cable systems. They've been successful at getting Dish Network to carry it, but not much else.

Buying an LP station won't get you must-carry status. Only full power television stations can get must-carry. The only way that station will get on Cox is through retransmission consent.
