KQBZ solution

Are there any islands off the coast of Wash. or BC not part of the US or Canada? Maybe Leykis with his millions could buy a small island, put up a 10kW FM operation, and broadcast his show from some 2-acre island.

Already then

Hmmm...Michael Jackson has bought an island (for different purposes, obviously)...Why not Tom? LOL

BTW, KJCB, are you in Arizona or Washington? As a former Scottsdale resident who visits there often, I'm often checking out the Phoenix board and see just as many posts from you there as I do here. Always insightful and interesting, by the way.

Thanks, I do live in Phoenix. I've previously spent time in Seattle and Washington due to family, and have enjoyed following the Buzz as I have always felt it was the best of the FM talkers.

BTW, next time you're done here, bring some KIRO airchecks. Our KTAR could use the help...

I think you missed the conversationalism associated with my point. But indeed you are correct (sans the commercials).

Yeah...I saw some of the recent threads on the Phoenix board. I haven't been down in close to two years, but last time I was there, David Lebowitz seemed to be doing well. Sadly, it seems due to money mainly, local talk programming in most markets is going out the window...Or at least, good local talk. I still have trouble accepting the fact that KFYI has Bruce Jacobs...The guy's a sports talker, and not too bad at it, but from what little I've caught of the show, he's not cut out for much else.

Money: yes. But figure out that with 4 min/hr of net inventory for Snow x 3 hrs/day x 260 days/yr = 3,120 min/yr of inventory that could be sold locally. It's not that simple, sure, but maybe if their station sounded decent in general, they could sell those spots.

As to Mr. Jacobs, if Leykis did a show in Phoenix again, it would be the one "not hosted by a bitter ex-sports talker..." I don't begrudge him for his #1 status, but you can tell that Bruce, who's a total pushover in person, is still disappointed his former XTRA sportstalker Mike Golic is now of national fame.
