KQED Interviews Joe McConnell aka Joe Vincent, etc.

There's audio of Wednesday's morning's interview on KQED Radio with traffic reporter Joe McConnell about how it is today. And there's a video clip about Metro Traffic back in 1992 before they were computerized and had 10 people doing traffic for 48 stations.

In the KQED story, they say Joe is now down to one station, KQED. Used to be that he had most of the top stations all at once, as Joe Vincent on KGO, and as himself on KBLX, KFRC, KYA/KSFO, etc.

Wow. Really cool look-back at how early traffic reporting in 1992 was done, 21 years ago!

Also, great shots of what's now considered antiquated, analog equipment, not to mention all the things shown that were done by hand.

There's just no comparison to how people get their traffic updates in 2013. As the saying goes: "You've come along way, Baby."

Thanks for posting that link, David.

Joe Mac still does news for a couple Santa Rosa stations as he's done for several years, and he does national news feeds...which he did for a number of years under Metro before they were rolled up by TTN.
