Hey pixie... Tell the new PD to rerip all the low grade sounding music in your automation system. That alone, makes me feel like I am listening to a station in Delhi or Tallulah. Very small market sounding.

I hope whoever was responsible for putting that stuff in is back at their KFC job now.

I grew up listening to that station. It pains me to hear how it has fallen.

It's been a while since I was in range to listen but hopefully also rip the single version of the song and not the mix tape version of the song. that was another thing that always pained me and sent me to KNOE when I'd hear that

The new PD (given the free reign to do so) will have that station moving in the right direction. That being said, here's hoping the "dynamic duo" let him.

Did some checking before jumping to running my mouth without knowing, The night girl rips in the music from CD or new music server, some are saying its the processing..?? or the night girl is just lazy.. Also talked to some "old" friends that work there still, trying to find out what happened because I liked the station the way it was and listened to it rather then KSMB, I liked the connection to the community and the "Local programming" , now its back to a kids station and its a typical "National Programming" no local flair.
After digging around I found out Cenla broadcasting doesn't even get the book and haven't for some time now. so I had to make some other calls to other old friends, This is what I found...KQID Morning show number 1, Station number 1, 18 -34 F, Tied number 1, 25 -45 F money demo. so why change it????
Charlie and Taylor makes decisions on a 12+ ratings?????
Yes that's what they do. They also don't like to be told they are wrong.
The last PD not only followed through but had zero budget and gave more away and had more events tied to kqid then any other station in the cluster. Pixie or Riley??? I am told you threw every PD in the building under the bus and tried to set up the afternoon guy so he would get fired, you are not a nice person from what I was told, that's why they all wanted you out. now I know what they meant about drama... but Taylor is still the biggest drama queen and rumor man. lots more to come this is just the tip.

The P.D's haven't been the problem...its the owners.

That music isn't from newmusicserver.

My ears are very sensitive to compression and many of those songs sound like they are sourced from a 64k wma stream.

I am a PD (of a #1 and #2 radio station). I (that's right, me) put in every song and every imaging element. That is never off loaded. I flag songs from mp3 source and when a .wav is available, I change it. Of my entire library, I am probably rotating 3-5 mp3's at a time. They all get replaced with the .wav at some point.

With that said, I know the quality level of newmusicserver and it is quite good. That is not where this stuff came from.

It sounds like it was streamed from imeem and then recorded in real time into the automation as another compressed waveform, thus compressing the source twice... (Did I mention I am also the IT manager?).

I caution people about that all the time.

As a PD, I would fire myself if I ever put in songs that sounded like that.

I had the disdain of crossing paths with Riley. She is quite the manipulator. Tries to get everything done with her looks and not with her mind and talent. And when she fails it turns into a giant bus throwing expedition. Greyhound would be proud.

good to meet you Chris...That's what I was told from people at the station they run mp4????..sounds like you are over worked, when you get up to larger markets and they can afford you a staff you will not do any of that... so proud you have hearing like a bat..most people don't, so keep patting yourself on the back, I'm sure one day you will be fired for something other than the quality of your music..seems KQID was listened to by a lot of people in Monroe, must not be to hard to be number one in Monroe.

As for Riley I know what you are saying, I worked with her at KSMB she tossed me under and for some reason the boss listened to her. then they got smart and fired her, also she got fired from a station in D.C for doing the same thing, she can manipulate very well but always gets caught. I was also told she was the one who threw the last P.D under a few buses. got more details on that, holding for now! like I said...she is not a nice person

I have a staff... I just like to do my own work.

It's not hard for ME to be #1 in Monroe, because I have had the best station for over a decade.

And... Alexandria is a larger market because they incorporated tons of parishes into their metro many years ago. It is not a larger city.

I also have no aspirations for another market. The day I'm done here, I will get an IT job somewhere. That is what I went to school for.

Ok so with all this talk about how the station sounds have any of you idiots even listened to it???
There were problems alot of them everything from a political no good radiopixie oops sry Riley how's that bus feel.... As for"local programing" playing rileys boyfriends band 76 times a week is that really what u think makes a station local??? You have problems if you answered yes even for a fraction of a second! The new "PD" beau richards is a great guy and very radio savy. Quite possiably the best programmer since Ron roberts to walk into the buliding. Wich brings me to my next point if you have a good team in place there won't be any drama no matter what is being thrown in your path!!
Stay tuned folks it's like wine it gets better with age

Love the bus head phonez lol, no one is talking about Beau or have any problems with him, I hope he does good but the owners have to let him do his job,
What I was told, everything was good, Charlie singing praises of the old P.D 3 months before he left, I understand personality conflicts and how that can lead people to leave or get fired. It happens every day.

As for local programming it takes more than playing local music to be called local, compared to regional then you have national, right now (and it might change) the station sounds national,

As a cluster it was moving into the right direction, your not number 1 in demo for doing a bad job, as radio people we listen and say "I wouldn't do that or I could do it better" that's just our nature.

The problem is the owners period! ask Ron he is a great guy and a good programmer but he will also tell you the problems he had with the owners, I met and talked to the last P.D, I told him good luck working for those idiots, he seemed really nice and had a good plan. You are right about having a good team, but when they tie your hands how do you get a good team, Pix....errrrrr Riley was a bad team member and it got real bad up there because of her, maybe John (his real name) will read this and we can get a lot more answers from him directly, maybe he just does not care and moved on, he will be fine, after all he was the guy that developed "Amp" radio, That says something.
LOL.. sorry john I just bated you for answers, I cant call because you change your number,
Sorry head phonez but I disagree with you, but then again your on the inside of Cenla broadcasting, so your blinded, to say who the best programmer was or is???? is crazy because it's all just a opinion, the numbers is what says what, and both where number 1, with different styles, I thought kahuna did well also, but he fell because of the owners, I give beau 2 years and he will be out maybe sooner.

Charlie and Taylor are Idiots and Taylor needs to come out. They are the problem, never liked them never will!!!

Now Mr. Voiceguy....

I understand that you clearly have some issues with charlie and taylor OK we get it!!!! first of all Taylor is probably the nicest guy on the face of the earth he will give you the shirt off his back, That being said Charlie has done a lot for me as well. As far as Programming Top 40/CHR Radio you have to play the hits and that means all of them!!!! Not just what you think is good!!! Q93 has been the same format for 30 plus years its a heritage station,so why come in and re-invent the wheel. The last PD in my opinion is a bit jaded aren't you mr. SQ voiceguy lets not hide behind screen names. I learned alot from you I really did. I am continuing to learn here at Cenla Broadcasting. So with that being said yes Riley through you under the bus yes Riley tried to get me fired yes your so called best friend screwed you over among others. It's not Charlie and Taylors fault for doing what they think is best for there company. Face it it's over move on don't take to this board for your pitty party. A programmer once told me "If you have the KIDS you have the moms" so I think it's clear that my name is FUZZY! I'm not perfect nor am I the best thing ever to hit the air but I am a good judge of character, but boy did I miss the boat on this one

LMFAO.... You might be a good judge of character, but you are not good at pointing out people, I am not Mr sq, I worked for them several years ago. I had no Idea you where fuzzy, I just knew you where on the inside by your other post about "killer Imaging".I call it over imaging!! only people that work for them take up for them until you are on the other side, how does it feel to be wrong, how does it feel to be another person that has a bus problem, not only did you call out the wrong guy, but you threw someone under the bus you say " I learned alot from you", I already said who I am and you must have missed it.
I will air out anything I want on this board, that's what it is for. I met John trying to get a job, afternoons to be exact!!! he told me he was trying to give his afternoon guy (YOU) another chance because he thought his guy was good enough but had some issues ( never said the issues). I kept in contact with him (about 20 times I called him just to B.S) so if something opens I might get "your job".
Riley didn't through me under the bus at cenla it was at KSMB. I got fired, now I just voice commercials and some small market stations.
The only email I had from him was a station email, the number I got for him is area code 334 not his number now, most of the info I got is from old friends, I do not know anything about his friend screwing him over, (another bit of personal info you threw out to be hit by another greyhound).
So FUZZY? tell me this. how does it feel to kiss your bosses butt just to look good, while throwing someone under the bus you seemed to like or respected? you did miss the boat for sure!!!! I want his side, so if you still have contact with him, call him and ask him to respond.
What does having kids and moms have to do with anything???? you do have alot to learn, playing the hits yes, but how? National, regional or local? get a clue fuzzy.

Goodness @ the character assassination, eh? Here are my thoughts...

1. All this "throwing under the bus" business is sort of pointless to bring up, especially if the person you're accusing of such has left. What's the point, after-the-fact? What's to be gained? Guys (and ladies), it's a small (and getting smaller) industry. Burning bridges with people you might wind up working with/for isnt wise. You just never know...

2. Riley wasn't with KQID when I left; my leaving had more to do with some African-American politicians (an insurance agent/councilman among 'em, I believe) who pressured the yocal paper to expose me as an author of some blog posts that were truthful but unkind to their precious BBQ festival. And because Charlie opens a door for anybody with a plate of food, and wanted so desperately to have his stations tied into this superbly flawed (and seemingly redundant) event, he and his political cronies didn't like what was said. I still maintain, to this day, that money "budgeted" by local governments for this event were either wasted or flat-out pocketed, and when I simply made mention of what the talent "hired" to perform costs at any other event vs. what was "billed" by organizers, it was a MASSIVE discrepency. In essence, I brought light to a dirty truth.

3. I've worked with Riley; know what makes her tick, and know she's driven. If that can be read or implied as being a threat, then I think there should be more introspection on those pointing fingers. I've seen, everywhere I've been, people mis-characterized b/c their hard work and ability were seen as 'threats.' I can't speak for her second tenure with the company, so I can't say, precisely, how things were, then, but I know how she worked when I was there. I can also say, with fair certainty, that Riley was "liked" by C&T, but she was not "beloved." My point being that there was no "teacher's pet/favorite student" relationship, so to me, it'd be hard for her TO be tossing bodies under buses without enough ammunition.

4. It would also help your cause if you had spell-check on and used proper spelling and pronunciation. Their/there threw/through, etc. C'mon... that's fifth grade stuff, all of ya.

Wow all....The posts are harsh...

I'd like to point out that in all my history of radio info, I've never once posted anything degrading, condescending, backstabbing or just plain mean about anyone or any station. My main aim for my postings on radio info were to put information out for interested parties i.e. station openings for those maybe looking for a new gig.

That being said, please allow me to clarify a few inaccurate statements:
1. I was never fired from WHFS in DC...if you know your radio history you will recall that in Feb 2005 WHFS had a format flip, causing many people, Tim Virgin, Jenn, Spam, Neci, etc, myself included to seek work elsewhere because, well, we aren’t fluent in spanish...

2. I still have a friendship with Ron Roberts to this day and would love to know how it was me that caused him to get fired, when at the time of his leaving Cenla Broadcasting, I was employed in a different market...I wont speak for him, but I can state pretty confidently that there is no ill will between myself and Ron.

3.I would love to know who the person I supposedly caused to be fired was from KSMB...The entire time I was employed there no one was fired....oh wait...scratch that, the night guy, Mojo, that was hired the same time I was got fired after only being there a few weeks...the reason I was told had something to do with a background check gone bad...but I honestly don’t know and was under the impression that he was a nice guy and was surprised to hear of his luck...other than that, none of the KSMB or other Citadel personality staples left the cluster while I was employed there. I was not fired; I terminated my own employment to return to the East Coast to care for a family member. Do I need to supply the letter from Citadel agreeing to my contract termination at my request? Lol! In an interesting side note, when I heard that Chris Reed was let go from KSMB, I actually made my first post on this board to express my surprise and sadness for him as he is a great personality and a friend.

4. I am a big fan of the idea of local programming, in fact, as instructed by my PD Sq at the time, did everything I could to promote local music and in the process came across quite a few very talented artists. I'll give Sq credit, he has an ear for discovering local talent...i.e. Social Recall, Five Star Fiasco (who is currently 151 on the billboard charts) Altar'd etc....I'd also like to point out that my boyfriends band was never played on KQID, as they do not currently have a cd recorded. Also, Hippie Jon from Minus 300 was not my boyfriend until Feb of this year AFTER Sq was let go and the local music program was derailed. AND another local band IRL, was played on KQID long before I was ever hired…so…I would love to know how playing local music consisted of “my boyfriends band being played 76 times a week”

5. I maintain friendships with many of the PD's still in place at Cenla Broadcasting, unless they are just working me over very well and I am unaware of it... And if I was wanted out so desperately, why wasn’t I fired…If, according to this board, people at Cenla Broadcasting are fired because of personality conflicts…and why was I asked to reconsider? I am just as curious about this as apparently a few of the other posters are…

6. I have to laugh at the suggestion that I use my looks rather then mind to accomplish things….Have you seen me? I have the perfect face for radio…

7. Manipulate?? The only thing I have ever “manipulated” and I use the term loosely, was the relationship between clients and promotions. The first 2 books Sq and I worked together at KQID, held some of the best promotions since the promotions budget was cut years ago. We managed to do everything from a house makeover, mommy makeover, car makeovers…to benefit concerts, food drives etc. I can say with confidence that I am proud of the work Sq and I did for the community…Sq leading and I following…again with ZERO promotions budgets. Sq taught me quite a bit in how to “finagle” promotions in a recession. AND looking back on other posts, The Morning Trainwreck was #1 in a few demos, which was another reason I was shocked Sq was let go. No matter what the hearsay is or what name he is using today on these boards, he knows that I thoroughly enjoyed working with him, and was shocked and saddened when he was let go, and truly wish him all the best. He was never thrown under the bus by me. We openly discussed our differences of opinion numerous times in the open, the way a PD and APD should. Perhaps people not privy to those conversations would call it “throwing under the bus” Fuzzy…are you still upset that you weren’t privy to all conversations?

8. I have never in my career discussed politics...Ron, Bobby,Sq, and Sean (all my past PD's) can attest to my request to never discuss politics on the air because I do not feel I have the right to attempt to sway anyone's political opinion...my main goal, with any topic, is to encourage listeners to utilize their own minds and to think for themselves...so, sorry Fuzzy...or headphonez...whatever you prefer, that was an incorrect statement.

I have to apologize for the lengthy post. I, under normal circumstances wouldn’t justify these misleading posts by a response, however…Opinions are one thing…facts are another. I would encourage posters to have their facts in order before posting. I, possibly naively, feel the need to correct the erroneous information about me being terminated or my causing others to be terminated. It saddens me to hear the negative opinions, but, you are completely entitled to them and I will defend you right to speak your opinion…just please, get the information right.

I could sling mud just as easily and talk about the theft, lies, hook-ups and sabotage that we all know can and does occur in this industry…but I wont…because, really…is it about that or is it about staying alive in this ever fading, ever dwindling industry…AND doing what you can to better the community?

Lastly, I know a few of the faces behind the usernames are…the grammar and spelling errors are hard to miss…but there are a few I’m not familiar with. I openly invite those who have conflict with me to contact me and speak your peace…who knows, it could be a learning opportunity for both of us. I am a big fan of resolving conflict and quelling negativity. I am also curious as to who will actually take me up on it and who will remain hidden behind screen names and accounts created 10 days ago with the same email as accounts created 5 years ago…

[email protected] (and the whole calling me out thing…I’ve never kept it a secret that I was Riley…so sorry to spoil your big reveal! Lol)

So….who wants to behave like a professional and who wants to keep throwing rocks…remember though…if you live in a glass house…it may not be the best idea…

My best to all posters! At least there appears to be some facility of free speech not yet encroached upon. ;)

...Just have to call out my own mistake....one can hardly mention poor grammar and spelling then post a reply containing the same...

In my paragraph apologizing for the length post, it should read "I will defend YOUR right..." not Ï will defend you right..."

LOL
Thanks :)

I remember working for ol' Taylor w/ thee ol' Dutchboy haircut (Man I hope U changed that Taylor....lol..) & Charlie (yee who hold thy poker parties late nite on Friday Night...lol..) back in the mid-80's. Pay was extremely low (as it probably is now).....wild remotes....lol....right Bro B.?.......,and to tell you at least they had some sort of format. Charlie.....how do you like your eggs? Smells like a Mc D's huh? (I used to cook during my mid-day fill-in for them...). Charlie would come up the stairs to his office & mumble "IT SMELLS LIKE A F#*%#*Mc Donalds here!!!"

This is all Bull S@*T!
Code:
[left][center]I am not mrvoice nor do I give a crap about the whole thing.

I do not know what really happened, I was told it was a budget thing so that works for me.

I AM PROUD AS HELL TO HAVE DONE WHAT WAS DONE ON ZERO BUDGET! with the numbers proving it worked. I do not care what any of you say. I am a good programmer with years of number 1 ratings, I am NOT a corporate programmer, I do local research and try to program a niche (sp?) format, thus the remark of "amp" radio I must clear up...... I did not come up with the title "Amp" radio, it was the format I designed but I called it "Alter/Pop" 6 years ago made for clusters. It was tested on a few stations and It worked.

Fuzzy called me this morning and I felt like I was in the twilight zone. weird because I can not figure out what the real bottom line of this thread.
Working for Cenla Broadcasting is a bit different than working at other broadcasting company's, It is what it is!
but its how they do it, if you don't like it quit, I was about to reach that point anyhow. Always want more with not budget.

I know who mrvoice is or think I know and will not call him out if he wants to remain a secret.
and thanks for the kind words from some posters and Riley. That's the past I am looking towards the future.

So in closing Ron: Taylor finally got his re-verb on the mics lol inside joke sorry.

Riley found another mistake of yours :"[font=Verdana] that was hired the same time [b]I was got fired[/b] after only being there a few weeks..[/font]." lol had to do it.

I have alot more to say good and bad, I just do not care this thread is petty and bull sh@t

Best of luck to everyone I'm headed to Tn to be closer to my kids, that is the only thing I care about other than my wife expecting my first son.

John "sq" [center][/center][/center][/left]

Any truth to the rumors that KQID will be an affiliate of the Saints Radio Network next year?
