Today KQIE FM Goes On The Air IE New CHR/Rhythmic Station Playing IE Hottest Music But Station Can Be Heard In LA & OC

It's been on the air since friday. Both signals are jockless but play the same music with different sweepers.

Right...except for the fact that it CANT be heard in LA and OC.

And apparently IE's hottest music is different than LA, OC and Ventura's hottest music?
It took a year and a half to put up a rhythmic hits station? What a waste of a potentially great movie in signal.

True. The 64 dbu signal barely hits the city of Riverside and falls short of Fontana. The 60 dbu does come close to even touching any part of LA or Orange counties. This is just another partial coverage IE Class A FM.

Who cares, Q104.7 sucks now ever since they made a bunch of changes. Looks like I'll still be listening to 99.1 on the way to Vegas.

Is it me or is 104.7 FM weaker than ever now? I now get static where I'm in. Nor do I remember hearing them when I'm in the OC.

It's got the near exact contour of KRQB which does just fine thank you.

It's a full market I.E. metro signal

All I know is that I used to be able to hear 104.7 ventura while in LA/Hollywood. Now I can't even hear that so if this is meant to be a dual signal move in from both sides it seems to not be working that way.
In theory it's a great idea (Though for the life of me I cannot understand why they would choose to put a CHR on there, as if KISS and AMP were'nt enough)

I'm getting a strong signal in Menifee at Ridgemoor & Murrieta. The kind of strong where my A/V receiver is on the floor and a tiny wire is sticking out the 75Ω input. 8)

I'm sure the 55+ crowd will love this addition. ::)

My taste leans toward KROQ or KYSR. ;)

KQIE 104.7 Went on the air Friday Night Late. I've been tracking them since the KDES/KQIE transaction. KDES 104.7 was a 42KW class B oldies station licensed to Palm Springs on Edom Hill. I was the CE back in the 80's. Ironically I worked at KACY AM & FM back in the day which is now Q104.7 in Ventura. It is a powerhouse FM Class B signal. I can hear them in Hollywood and up in Santa Maria! I've heard KQIE test several times while constructing the site over the past few months. It's a class "A" signal 1350 watts on Heaps Peak which is between Redlands and Loma Linda. It's gonna give 99.1/KGGI a run for the money! It's gonna be interesting for sure. Stay Tuned! :)

Actually, Heaps Peak is along Hwy 18 between Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs. I would know, my family had property in the San Bernardino Mountains (Crestline) for over 50 years.

FresnoDave is correct! We have amateur radio repeater on Heaps Peak and matter of fact 99.1 transmitter is also on Heaps Peak as well as X103.9.

Yes, Heaps Peak is in the San Bernardino National Forest and is also the site for the 72kw 97.5. As far as I know the KQIE site does not have a name. I think the CP site for Hemet's 105.7, moving back to 105.5 with 6kw located about a mile and a half from KQIE is a much better site.

Unless the 64 dbu hits all of a market, I would not consider it a full market signal. There is a significant area south of Hemet and around to west of Riverside that is not in the 64 and which has a considerable population. The big Corona / Norco area does not even have a 60 dbu signal.

KRQB does well because it is the only adequately programmed regional Mexican station for the market. If it had a really good signal, it would beat KLYY... but KLAX and KSCA don't really penetrate, and it ought to have higher shares.

For an A, it's a good signal (as is KRQB)... kind of like how KSSE is "almost" a B due to HAAT averaging. But it has about 1.1 million in the 54 dbu contour, while even relatively limited KGGI has nearly 30% more population and KFRG covers all the population in the market and then some. Of course, compared to KCAL which has done pretty well over the years, yet spills a lot of signal out of the market, those two are the "best of the rest" after the 4 bigger signals.
