KQMG & KIFG flip to Classic Hits

From NorthPine.com:

IOWA:
All Access reports a coincidental format flip at two nearby stations on the same frequency: KQMG-FM/95.3 (Independence) and KIFG-FM/95.3 (Iowa Falls) have both dropped Hot Adult Contemporary for Classic Hits. KIFG-FM, owned by Times Citizen Communications, is simulcast on KIFG/1510. KQMG-FM, owned by KM Communications, contunues to go by the slogan "Brite 95.3" and has a pending application to move into the Cedar Rapids market, where it would be licensed to Solon on 95.1. However, that application has sat at the FCC without action for more than three years. (7/7/2010)

KQMG-FM is now carrying ABC/Citadel's Greatest Mojo network. KOKX-FM (Keokuk) dropped the Greatest Mojo network earlier this year after carrying it since the "Oldies Radio" days.

Well, that's full circle for KQMG. It was on the same satellite network when I lived in Cedar Falls between 1995-1997. They went to the Hot AC format after 105.7 went oldies (and prior to 96.1's sign on). Are they still trying to market it as a Waterloo station? Signal was OK on the east side if I remember, but pretty cruddy in CF. If it was off, Iowa Falls was in.

Another damn hot AC station that never streamed thus have no idea what it sounded like. And was this recent? A week ago I saw the website changed already.

Both stations had been carrying Citadel's Hot AC format.

I don't think KQMG is trying to market itself to Waterloo but they do carry Waterloo Bucks baseball. Of course the team is buying the time to have the games on there.

They're actually targeting Waterloo-Cedar Falls AND Cedar Rapids. One of the identifiers clearly reads "KQMG - Independence - Marion - Cedar Rapids" and another reads "KQMG - Independence - Cedar Falls - Waterloo." The regular top-hour ID goes as "KQMG - Independence-Oelwein."
